Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics Digital Sounds (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains about 30,000 recordings of over 1,000 species of animals. It includes over 10,000 digitized recordings of songbirds, primarily warblers, tanagers, and sparrows. Real Media Player or Real Media Alternative is required to play these recordings. The Borror Laboratory was founded by the late Dr. Donald Borror, Professor of Entomology and Zoology at The Ohio State University. It is produced by the Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics and the user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

OAIster (updated weekly; much full-text and other digital content; RefWorks help) serves as a portal for more than 19 million digital resources from over 1,000 organizations developed by the University of Michigan and harvested using OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting). It includes digital items such as books and articles, audio files, images, videos, and datasets (downloadable statistics files). Users can search by keyword, title, creator, subject or resource type (audio, dataset, image, text, or video). Searches yield a detailed and well-organized description of the resource and a persistent/stable link to the resource itself. Indexed content includes the Library of Congress' American Memory Project, various pre-print and e-print servers, and digital thesis and dissertation collections. It is produced by University of Michigan Digital Library Production Services and the user interface is provided by OCLC (Online Computer Library Center).

LANDSAT 7 Satellite Images (updated every 16 days) is part of OhioLINK's digital Media Center and makes Ohio-based satellite data available for download or web viewing. Several views are available, including infrared and true color composite. Urban growth, natural resource loss, and crop health are a few of the environmental issues that may be monitored with this type of satellite data. It is produced by the U.S. Geological Survey and the user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

LexisNexis Statistical Publications & DataSets (exportable data; users guide) includes datasets from many sources, including the US government, international organizations, and the private sector. It covers all subject areas, including banking and finance, criminal justice and law, education, energy resources and demand, food and agriculture, government and politics, health and vital statistics, housing and construction, industry and commerce, international; labor and employment, natural resources and environment, population and income, prices and cost of living, stocks and commodities, and transportation and travel. Users can search datasets by keyword; browse datasets by subject or source; display datasets by trend, map or ranking; and output datasets in print, PDF, delimited, Excel or SAS formats. Datasets can be limited by date and geographic area (country, state, county). Years available varies by dataset; for example, births 1999-present and breast cancer 1973-present. It also features datasets currently in the news, such as crude oil price, 30-year fixed mortgage rate, airline on-time arrival rate, campaign contributions for both Obama and McCain, gasoline prices, the prime rate and the unemployment rate. Encyclopedia of Life Sciences (continuously updated; all full-text; XLinks) is a reference work in the biological sciences for both students and professionals. It contains 3,000 articles written by 5,000 contributing scientists which are categorized as introductory, advanced or keynote. It includes links to related articles and subject portals, a glossary and excellent graphics that can be printed separately. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Wiley InterScience.

Forestry Image Collection (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center. It contains a collection of forestry photos dating back to the early 20th century. Images portray trees, cultivation, care, and the effects of human activity. The photographs were taken in Ohio but other states and countries are also represented. It is produced by the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station at the Ohio State University. The user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

Geology Digital Photographs (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center. It contains a collection of photos depicting natural features and the human impact on environments around the world. It is produced by the Department of Geology, Oberlin College. The user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

Science Online (all full-text; XLinks) is an online encyclopedia and NOT the journal, Science. It offers a comprehensive, curriculum-oriented overview of a broad range of scientific disciplines including biology and life sciences, chemistry, computer science, earth science, environmental science, forensic science, mathematics, physics, space and astronomy, and weather and climate. Content is organized by subject area and type of resource, as well as by national and state science education standards. It contains over 6,800 printable diagrams, illustrations and images; hundreds of videos and flash animations; over 1,000 science experiments and activities indexed by grade and time required; thousands of biographies of key scientists; thousands of definitions; a searchable timeline of science history; and national and state science education standards. Wright Brothers Digital Photographs (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains a collection of photographs documenting the invention of the airplane, the lives of the Wright Family, and the Wright brothers' flying exhibitions in Europe and the United States. The collection provides thorough coverage of the Wright brothers' early inventive period documenting their early gliders and flight testing in both North Carolina and Ohio. Much of it should show that Orville and Wilbur Wright were technically excellent photographers who painstakingly documented their process of invention. The content posted to date also provides a valuable record of their home life, camp life, and the flora and fauna of the Outer Banks 100 year ago. These photos are from The Wright Brothers Collection housed in Special Collections and Archives at the Wright State University Libraries, one of the most complete collections of Wright material in the world. Educational Films and Documentaries (XLinks), formerly the Digital Video Collection, is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains 1,976 full-length educational films and documentaries covering a wide variety of subjects. The collection currently includes videos from two distributors: Ambrose Video and Films for the Humanities & Sciences. Real Media Alternative is required to view videos. It is compiled by and the user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

Encyclopedia of Physics Demonstrations (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center. It contains 600 videos of physics experiments available for viewing and downloading. Each video illustrates a particular principle of physics. The demonstrations are augmented by slow-motion photography and animation. Videos are accompanied by a printer-friendly PDF page which may contain graphics, tables or figures not easily rendered on the Web. Videos are available in RealVideo format and may be streamed or downloaded. To view these videos, you will need to install RealPlayer on your computer. A free version of RealPlayer is available at http://www.real.com. It is produced by the Video Encyclopedia of Physics Demonstrations, Education Group. The user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

XPLORE Library Catalog (tips & tricks; RefWorks help; XLinks; video tutorials) is Xavier library's online public access catalog. It includes all of the library's books, journals, audiovisuals, and microform materials. Search XPLORE by keyword, author, title and Library of Congress subject heading. If you don't find what you need, request it online (printable instructions; video tutorial) from OhioLINK, the combined library catalog of 88 college, university, public, and state libraries in Ohio.

To find digital, streaming, DVD, and FHS videos in XPLORE, limit your search results to the Record Type, Proj. Medium (example).
