ACCUNET Multimedia Archive/AP Images (1840-present; updated daily; full-text captions) contains over 750,000 of the Associated Press' best photographs, over 380,000 audio files (requiring RealPlayer) and links to 800,000 full-text articles. About 800 photos are added daily and about 200 photos from the historical collection are added monthly. It includes maps, graphs, charts, logos, flags and illustrations, including 2,000 graphics using Spanish instead of English. Audio files, images and other graphics may be downloaded and used for educational purposes. Educators may search by state and grade level for images applicable to a specific state curriculum standard. It is produced by the Associated Press and the user interface is provided by Accuweather, Inc.

American Song (XLinks) Is a history database that allows users to hear the music from America's past. It includes songs by and about American Indians, miners, immigrants, slaves, children, pioneers, cowboys, and more. It includes the songs of the Civil Rights Movement, political campaigns, prohibition, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, anti-war protests, and more. Other genres include bluegrass, blues, cajun/zydeco, Carribean, folk, hip-hop, jazz, Latin, ragtime, rhythm & blues, sacred, and stage & screen. It includes all content from African-American Song which documents the history of African-American music in an online music listening service. This release features 4,018 albums and 68,114 tracks. Users should click the Sign in link and register to create a playlist. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Alexander Street Press in collaboration with the University of Chicago.

Classical Music Library (XLinks) is a streaming classical music service for libraries that enables listening and learning. Browse alphabetical lists of composers, artists, conductors, ensemble, instrument, genre, period and label. Genres include orchestral, chamber, instrumental, stage & screen, vocal & choral, and opera & operetta. It includes images and biographies of artists and conductors, a glossary and definitions of historical music periods. Users can register to create personal playlist folders. Faculty can arrange to have course folders of music selections created for students in their classes. Faculty should contact the reference desk at 513 745-4808 or askus@xavier.edu to make these arrangements. Classical Scores Library (Renaissance-21st century; XLinks) currently provides over 800 scores with plans to build to 8,000 scores, including both public domain and in-copyright items from Boosey and Hawkes. Major composers as well as many lesser known composers are represented, including notable 20th century composers. Score types include full, miniature, piano, vocal, and fragment. Users can search for a score by composer, work/opus number, key, genre, instrument, time period, title, score type, duration, editor, arranger, or publisher. The whole score is viewable and printable as a PDF document. If there is a corresponding track in the Classical Music Library database, just click to listen to the music while viewing the score. CultureGrams (all full-text; XLinks) includes a world, children and states editions. It contains a photo gallery, recipe collection, famous people, data tables and definitions. Select from an A-Z list of countries/regions/states or select an area on a map. Each country includes a detailed map, flag, national anthem, current time, currency converter, recipe collection, facts and statistics as well as sections on history, climate, the people, customs, courtesies, lifestyle and society. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Brigham Young University.

Naxos Music Library (XLinks) contains the complete Naxos and Marco Polo catalogues of over 165,000 tracks, including classical music, Jazz World and chinese music. It includes biographical information on composers or artists included in the database. Users can select works by composer, artist, period, year of composition, instrument or genre. Playlists can be casily created for educational assignments or for hours of personal enjoyment. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Naxo Music Library. This resource is limited to 5 simultaneous users and requires Adobe Flash Player.

Oxford Music Online (updated quarterly and annually; all full-text; temporary off-campus link; XLinks) is the online version of New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (second edition in 29 volumes). It also contains Grove Music Online, New Grove Dictionary of Opera (4 volumes), New Grove Dictionary of Jazz (second edition; 3 volumes), Oxford Dictionary of Music (2nd ed.), and the Oxford Companion to Music. It contains more than 25 million words and 29,000 articles by 6,000 contributors. It provides an integrated music resource that covers all aspects of music. Educational Films and Documentaries (XLinks), formerly the Digital Video Collection, is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains 1,976 full-length educational films and documentaries covering a wide variety of subjects. The collection currently includes videos from two distributors: Ambrose Video and Films for the Humanities & Sciences. Real Media Alternative is required to view videos. It is compiled by and the user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

It includes all of the library's books, journals, audiovisuals, and microform materials. Search XPLORE by keyword, author, title and Library of Congress subject heading.
