ACCUNET Multimedia Archive/AP Images (1840-present; updated daily; full-text captions) contains over 750,000 of the Associated Press' best photographs, over 380,000 audio files (requiring RealPlayer) and links to 800,000 full-text articles. About 800 photos are added daily and about 200 photos from the historical collection are added monthly. It includes maps, graphs, charts, logos, flags and illustrations, including 2,000 graphics using Spanish instead of English. Audio files, images and other graphics may be downloaded and used for educational purposes. Educators may search by state and grade level for images applicable to a specific state curriculum standard. It is produced by the Associated Press and the user interface is provided by Accuweather, Inc.

Cochrane Database (updated quarterly; systematic reviews full-text; RefWorks help; XLinks) contains systematic reviews providing high quality evidence for people providing and receiving care. It includes citations to controlled trials, effectiveness reviews, methodology register, economic evaluations of health care interventions, and healthcare technology assessments. It is produced by the Cochrane Library and the user interface is provided by Wiley InterScience. Evidence-Based Practice Tip: All articles in this database should have some level of evidence.

Historical Statistics of the United States (most from 1800s-1990s; full-text essays & introductions; downloadable data) provides quantitative data on population, work & welfare, economic structure & performance, economic sectors, and governance & international relations. It covers social, behavioral, humanistic, and natural sciences including history, economics, government, finance, sociology, demography, education, law, natural resources, climate, religion, international migration, and trade. It permits users to search and download data as well as create customized tables, spreadsheets and graphs. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Cambridge University Press.

LexisNexis Statistical Publications & DataSets (exportable data; users guide) includes datasets from many sources, including the US government, international organizations, and the private sector. It covers all subject areas, including banking and finance, criminal justice and law, education, energy resources and demand, food and agriculture, government and politics, health and vital statistics, housing and construction, industry and commerce, international; labor and employment, natural resources and environment, population and income, prices and cost of living, stocks and commodities, and transportation and travel. Users can search datasets by keyword; browse datasets by subject or source; display datasets by trend, map or ranking; and output datasets in print, PDF, delimited, Excel or SAS formats. Datasets can be limited by date and geographic area (country, state, county). Years available varies by dataset; for example, births 1999-present and breast cancer 1973-present. It also features datasets currently in the news, such as crude oil price, 30-year fixed mortgage rate, airline on-time arrival rate, campaign contributions for both Obama and McCain, gasoline prices, the prime rate and the unemployment rate. Britannica Online Academic Edition (all full-text; XLinks) is the online version of Encyclopaedia Britannica that contains more than 118,000 articles, updated and revised by Encyclopædia Britannica editors and contributors; over 14,000 illustrations, including photographs, drawings, maps, and flags; and more than 215,000 word entries, including definitions, pronunciation guides, and word histories. It includes an Internet directory that provides more than 300,000 links to Web sites selected, rated, and reviewed by Britannica editors. Consumer Health Complete (much full-text; RefWorks help; XLinks) is designed for the everyday consumer of health care information. It provides convenient access to easily understandable health and medical information. Consumers can browse or search diseases, conditions, injuries or procedures as well as general topics, such as children's health, men's health, pregnancy, substance abuse, or women's health. It also includes searchable, browseable evidence-based reports, fact sheets and pamphlets, encyclopedias and reference books, drug and herb information, alternative sources, images and diagrams, and videos and animations. Dolphin Embryo Digitized Slides (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center. It contains scanned images of histological sections captured using a digital camera connected to a microscope. The collection consists of many sections per single embryo. Each embryo is identified by a name, such as LACM 94674. A section number follows the name, e.g. LACM 94674-100 is section 100. The specimens are examples of Pantropical Spotted Dolphin (Stenella attenuata) and were made available by the Los Angeles County Museum. images.MD (FAQs about educational use of images) compiles over 50,000 high-quality images spanning all of internal medicine and derived from Current Medicine's series of illustrated atlases. Each image is accompanied by detailed and informative text written by over 2,000 contributing experts. images.MD is updated as new atlases are published or existing atlas series are revised. Reproductive Physiology Animations (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center. It contains a collection of learning modules on human reproduction. Some of the animated modules are accompanied by sound. To view the modules in the sequence, Browse by Title. These animations are played via Macromedia Flash Player, which is pre-installed on most web browsers. Users may download files to insert into a PowerPoint presentation or a Blackboard course. Science Online (all full-text; XLinks) is an online encyclopedia and NOT the journal, Science. It offers a comprehensive, curriculum-oriented overview of a broad range of scientific disciplines including biology and life sciences, chemistry, computer science, earth science, environmental science, forensic science, mathematics, physics, space and astronomy, and weather and climate. Content is organized by subject area and type of resource, as well as by national and state science education standards. It contains over 6,800 printable diagrams, illustrations and images; hundreds of videos and flash animations; over 1,000 science experiments and activities indexed by grade and time required; thousands of biographies of key scientists; thousands of definitions; a searchable timeline of science history; and national and state science education standards. Bates On-line: A Visual Guide to Physical Examination (streaming videos) was adapted from the popular film and print series by Barbara Bates. It covers 12 subject areas: abdomen; cardiovascular - neck vessels and heart; female genitalia, anus and rectum; male genitalia, rectum and hernias; neurologic - motor system and reflexes; nose, mouth, and neck; breasts and axillae; cardiovascular and peripheral vascular systems; head, eyes, and ears; musculoskeletal system; neurologic - cranial nerves and sensory system; and thorax and lungs. Educational Films and Documentaries (XLinks), formerly the Digital Video Collection, is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains 1,976 full-length educational films and documentaries covering a wide variety of subjects. The collection currently includes videos from two distributors: Ambrose Video and Films for the Humanities & Sciences. Real Media Player or Real Media Alternative is required to view videos. Nurse Theorists: Portraits of Excellence (streaming videos), contains videos of 22 innovative women who are widely regarded as nursing's premier scholars: Virginia Henderson, Myra Levine, Dorothy Johnson, Rosemarie Parse, Sr. Callista Roy, Florence Nightingale, Martha Rogers, Hildegard Peplau, Madeleine Leininger, Dorothea Orem, Reva Rubin, Betty Newman, Imogene King, Margaret Newman, Ida Orlando Pelletier, Jean Watson, Helen Erickson, Pamela Reed, Merle Mishet, Afaf Meleis, Patricia Benner, and Nola Pender. The entry for each theorist includes a bibliography of the their writings and a resource list of helpful websites and organizations.
