These instructions were created in Windows XP. In other operating systems the windows may have different names and a different look and feel.
These instructions assume that you have located an article/item in a database. Go to Electronic Reserves at http://library.xu.edu/.
- Click Admin Login in the blue menubar.
Note: Your username and password are assigned to you when the library creates your electronic reserves account. If you do not know your username and password, contact document delivery (Sidnie Reed) at 513 745-4812 or reed@xavier.edu.
- Enter your Username in the first textbox.
- Enter your Password in the second textbox.
- Click the Login button.

- The new window will display a list of your courses.
- Click the course you want.

- The new window will display the copyright message.
- Click the Accept button.

- Click Documents & Copyright on your course page.

- The new window will display a list of documents for this course.
- Click Add Document.

- Click Add a new Document.

- Enter a title for your link in the Title textbox.
- You can optionally enter other information (e.g., journal, volume, issue, date, aand pagination) in the Description textbox.
- You can optionally enter the number of pages in the article in the # Pages textbox.
- Click Web Link.

- Another textbox will appear under Web Link.
- To insure off-campus access, type the library's proxy link in the Web Link textbox: http://libproxy.xu.edu:2048/login?url=
- Copy and paste the database link to the article/item in the Web Link textbox immediately after the proxy link (example). To accurately identify this link see individual database descriptions for the XLinks instructions.
- Step 3 options are optional.
- Click the Save button.

Your screen will refresh and display the settings for this document.
- Note: the Web Link textbox will disappear.
- Scroll to the bottom of the window.
- Click Document List.

- You will return to a list of documents for this course.
- If you have a lot of documents already in this course, your new course document may not be on the first page.
- Documents are arranged in alphabetical order by the title assigned to the document. Click the page navigation (>>) to move through the list of documents.
- Click the Close Window button.
- You are returned to your course page.Click the Documents tab on your course page to test the document link you just entered.

- A list of the documents for this course will display.
- Some documents may be in folders.

- Scroll to the bottom of this page.
- Note: document links are identified by this icon.
- In addition, document links display Web/OPAC Link in the Format column.
- Click the new document link you just created.

- The Document Info window opens.
- To test the link you must click the link under WEB/OPAC Link - the Click here for more information link. It should take you the full-text of the article.
