Use articles for more current information from that found in books. Articles usually provide very specific information about a topic. Articles are also a good source of original research studies.
Use one of the library's research databases to find articles.
One of the most important steps in finding articles is selecting the right research database. Select a database guide from the drop-down list of subjects/academic program to find those databases most appropriate for your topic. In the database guide begin with the first database listed or one of the databases under the Highly Recommended category. To determine which database has the most information about your topic, scroll to the bottom of the database guide and Quick Search Multiple Databases. If you need help selecting or searching a database, see the xu.tutor module, Identifying Resources, or Ask a Librarian.
Use the following xu.tutor modules to help you formulate strategies for searching research databases. Online help is also provided by the database vendor within each research database. You can also ask a librarian, email the Xavier librarians or use the library's KnowItNow 24/7 chat reference assistance service.
