What resource sharing services are offered to online students?

Resource Sharing will provide library print materials and media via UPS to students enrolled in online classes at Xavier.

  • Students must live 30 or more miles from campus and must not be attending any classes on campus in the current term.
  • Students must create an account in the ILLIAD Interlibrary Loan system and select the status of Online Student. If you already have an ILLIAD account, please edit the account information to show the status of online student and make sure that you have listed your off-campus address.

How do I obtain journal articles?

  1. Make sure the article is not available in digital format:
    • Click FIND IT @ XU for the article you need in a research database.
    • Search for the journal you need in JOURNALS @ XU.
  2. Fill out the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan Request Form .
  3. See these instructions for help filling out the form.
  4. Articles will be delivered electronically to your ILLIAD account.

How do I Obtain books or media items?

Before ordering books or media items to be sent to you, consider the following options in order to receive the material in the quickest possible time.

Visit your local public library

Materials will be available immediately

Search XPLORE for books or media and click the Request button. Enter your MyXU user name and password and select a pickup location of online student.

Materials will be shipped via UPS to your home. Materials should arrive within 3-5 days.

Search the OhioLINK catalog for books or media.

If you live close to another OhioLINK institution , request the material using Xavier University as your institution and select a pickup location of the institution close to where you live.

If you do not live in Ohio, request the material using Xavier University as your institution and select a pickup location of Xavier Online Student

 


Materials should arrive at your OhioLINK pickup location within 3-5 days.



Materials will be shipped to Xavier and then via UPS to your home. Materials should arrive within 5-10 days.

Request the material through the ILLIAD Interlibrary Loan Book and Media Request Form.

Materials will be shipped to Xavier and then via UPS to your home. Materials should arrive within 10-14 days.

How do I renew items?

  1. Xavier and OhioLINK books can be renewed online up to four times if no hold has been placed on them by other patrons.

  2. ILLIAD books can usually only be renewed one time.

  3. Media items cannot usually be renewed.

How do I return books and media?

  1. If we shipped the materials to you via UPS, please return the materials to us in the box provided and affix the enclosed return label to the box. Drop off the box at any UPS drop off location at no charge.
  2. Otherwise, return the materials to the library where you checked them out.
