ACCUNET Multimedia Archive/AP Images (1840-present; updated daily; full-text captions) contains over 750,000 of the Associated Press' best photographs, over 380,000 audio files (requiring RealPlayer) and links to 800,000 full-text articles. About 800 photos are added daily and about 200 photos from the historical collection are added monthly. It includes maps, graphs, charts, logos, flags and illustrations, including 2,000 graphics using Spanish instead of English. Audio files, images and other graphics may be downloaded and used for educational purposes. Educators may search by state and grade level for images applicable to a specific state curriculum standard. African American Experience (African-American origins to the present; all full-text) is a cross-searchable collection of African-American history and culture. It covers the arts, biography, business, civil rights, education, folklore, history, literature, music, politics, pop culture, science, slavery, sports, and technology. This collection includes the African-American Greenwood encyclopedias, other references books, and 67 Negro University Press texts from the late 1700s to the early 1970s. Primary sources include 4,000 interviews with former slaves (the WPA slave narratives), as well as manuscripts, speeches, court cases, quotations, advertisements, and statistics. It includes allegories, broadsides, children's poems, elegiac poems, epics, hymns, odes, patriotic poems and sonnets. ArchiveGrid: Open the Door to History (continuously updated) provides online access to nearly a million descriptions of archival collections owned by thousands of libraries, museums, historical societies and archives worldwide. ArchiveGrid is an important destination for searching for historical documents, personal papers and family histories held in archives. Images include a broad range of works of the following genres: painting, sculpture, photography, print, drawing, ceramic, textiles, metalwork, furniture, books and scrolls, architecture, and archeological finds. Cultures and time periods represented range from contemporary art, Native American and Inuit art, to ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, along with Japanese and Chinese works. Classical Music Library enables listening and learning at library and home computers. It includes around 15,000 recordings, along with program notes, composer biographies, and images cross-referenced to the recordings. Demographics Now (all full-text; data) allows users to analyze the demographic and market potential of any geographic area in the U.S. It creates summary, comparison, ranking and radius-based reports by geographic area. Dolphin Embryo Microscopic Slides (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Resource Commons. It contains scanned images of histological sections captured using a digital camera connected to a microscope. The collection consists of many sections per single embryo. Each embryo is identified by a name, such as LACM 94674. A section number follows the name, e.g. LACM 94674-100 is section 100. The specimens are examples of Pantropical Spotted Dolphin (Stenella attenuata) and were made available by the Los Angeles County Museum. A verse drama is generally defined as a work acted on or intended for the stage which is either completely in verse or includes significant verse content. Included are the works of Aquinas, Aristotle, Augustine, Austen, Dewey, Plato, Mary Shelley, and the continental rationalists. In addition there are the works of British philosophy from 1600-1900 and political philosophy form Machivelli to Mill. Users can browse by title or subject and a keyword search is also available. JSTOR (1st issue of 1st volume to 3 years from present; all full-text; Video tutorial; Handout tutorial; RefWorks help; XLinks; title list) provides online access to back issues of selected scholarly journals in a variety of academic disciplines including the arts, business, demographic studies, humanities, social sciences, and science. The multidisciplinary arts & sciences collection was updated in June 2009 with an additional 120 titles, bringing the total number of journals in this collection to 749. JSTOR also includes 8,200 19th Century British pamphlets. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by JSTOR, a not-for-profit organization that serves and is supported by the scholarly community. NOTE: journal content published prior to 1923 in the US and prior to 1870 elsewhere is freely available to the public for reading and downloading (nearly 500.000 articles from more than 200 journals).

Kent State Shootings, Oral Histories (XLinks) contains a collection of 69 oral histories related to the May 4, 1970 shootings of Vietnam War protestors at Kent State University. The oral histories include many eyewitness accounts of the event and its aftermath, contributed by people who were students, faculty members, and City of Kent residents at the time, as well as an account by an Ohio National Guardsman. Apple's free QuickTime player is required to listen to the audio files. Written transcripts are also available for many of the oral histories. Lake Erie's Yesterdays (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Resource Commons and contains a collection of historic photographs of northwestern Ohio, documenting the local history of the Erie islands and Lake Erie's western basin. These 1,087 black and white images were produced by Sandusky, Ohio, commerical photographer Ernst Niebergall between 1909 and 1915. From ice harvesting and railroads to early aviation and island leisure activities, the Niebergall photographs richly depict the everyday lives and activities of Lake Erie's southern shoreline residents. The photographs provide a record of communities in transition as old methods gave way to advances in industry and technology. The original photos were part of the Charles E. This freely accessible database is produced by the National Library of the Czech Republic under the auspices of the 1992 UNESCO Memory of the World project. Mayan Archaeology Digital Photographs (XLinks) shows Mayan architecture and scenery from Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. As a resource for the exploration of the various and complex interrelationships within Mayan society, the Mayan archaeology collection serves as basic image resource which the creators hope will be augmented by other scholars in the field. It is produced by the Department of Anthropology, Oberlin College and the user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

Moses Dawson Correspondence (1811-1844) consists of letters written between 1811 and 1844 to Moses Dawson, editor of the Cincinnati Advertiser, which later became the Cincinnati Enquirer. The letters were written by four American presidents (Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, James Knox Polk, and William Henry Harrison), military personnel, and other notable individuals. The collection includes digitized versions of the original letters, transcriptions of the letters, biographical information about Dawson and selected correspondents, finding aids, a thesis written about Dawson by a Xavier University student, documents describing the time period, and newspaper announcements about the collection, all in portable document format (PDF). The collection was given to Xavier University in 1934 by Joseph Debar, a prominent alumnus of Xavier University, who acquired it from his father-in-law, Moses Dawson.. The collection was published by Xavier University and the user interface is provided by OhioLINK's Digital Media Resource Center (DMRC).

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Digital Images (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Resource Commons and contains digital documents related to slavery, abolition, and emancipation. The collection includes abolitionist broadsheets, photographs by Matthew Brady, letters and speeches of President Lincoln and other presidents, and other historic letters, documents, and pictures. The original documents are found in the Gilder Lehrman Collection of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. The digital images were made available through the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. The user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

New York Times Historical Database (1851-within four years of the present; all full-text; updated annually; RefWorks help; XLinks) contains full-page and article images of every page of every issue, cover to cover, in downloadable PDF. OhioLINK Music Center (OMC) (audio files; XLinks) contains more than 78,000 tracks and 21,000 works of digital music, all available for educational use to students, faculty, and staff of OhioLINK member institutions. Users can search for tracks or albums by keyword or they can browse by genre, composer, performer, track title, work title, or date of composition. Genres include Chinese, classical, contemporary jazz, spoken word, and the world. A Flash player is required to listen to the music. This database contains billions of records in census data that include birth, death, marriage, military (from the colonial to the Vietnam eras), immigration, emigration, burial, and baptism records, as well as family histories (including Jewish families), court and legal documents, ship lists, phone and other directories, photos, maps and more. Multimedia include family and gravestone photos, postcards, newsreels and more. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by ProQuest. This database is only available on-campus.

ProQuest Statistical Datasets (formerly LexisNexis Statistical; exportable data; users guide) includes datasets from many sources, including the US government, international organizations, and the private sector. It covers all subject areas, including banking and finance, criminal justice and law, education, energy resources and demand, food and agriculture, government and politics, health and vital statistics, housing and construction, industry and commerce, international; labor and employment, natural resources and environment, population and income, prices and cost of living, stocks and commodities, and transportation and travel. Saskia Art History Images (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center: Art and Architecture Digital Media. It contains 1,009 digital images of paintings and sculptures located in museums worldwide. It also contains digital images of photographs of architectural structures located throughout the world. Each entry includes the title, creator, creation date, object type, measurements, materials, style/period, owner, accession number, contributor and a stable link to the item. This collection emphasizes the core images required for teaching the history of Western art and is based on Gardner's Art Through the Ages, Stokstad's History of Art and Hartt's History of Italian Renaissance Art. SWON Greater Cincinnati Memory Project is a collection of nearly 6,000 pre-1940 photographs, postcards and slides of landmarks and events in the greater Cincinnati area. Seven participating libraries and museums (providing collections and local funds) and five co-sponsors (providing local funds) were involved in the development of an online database of these local history materials. Funding was also provided via a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant. The Project has been expanded to include images of Cincinnati people. Wright Brothers Collection (XLinks) contains a collection of photographs documenting the invention of the airplane, the lives of the Wright family, and the Wright brothers' flying exhibitions in Europe and the United States. The collection provides thorough coverage of the Wright brothers' early inventive period documenting their early gliders and flight testing in both North Carolina and Ohio. Much of it should show that Orville and Wilbur Wright were technically excellent photographers who painstakingly documented their process of invention. The content posted to date also provides a valuable record of their home life, camp life, and the flora and fauna of the Outer Banks 100 year ago. These photos are from The Wright Brothers Collection housed in Special Collections and Archives at the Wright State University Libraries, one of the most complete collections of Wright material in the world. XU Student Newspaper XU Digital Student Newspaper (1915-1 year from present; all full-text; general copyright information) contains the entire content in digital format of Xavier University's student newspaper, The Newswire. The student newspaper reports on key historical events and gives students' reflections and viewpoints on events of national and local importance, such as the death of President Kennedy and the nation at war in the 1940s. The voice of change throughout Xavier's history, the newspaper documents the merger of Edgecliff College, the effects of coeducation, and the introduction of computers on campus. Most importantly the newspaper chronicles everyday life and general activities, from athletic achievements on the field to Xavier's Centennial celebration. University archives typically serve as the chief historical resource for materials about a university, its people, programs and culture. Xavier University's contributions to the pilot AJCU collection include 11 historical photographs depicting alumni activities, a historical campus view, general science classes, Bellarmine Chapel dedication, the journey of St. Francis Xavier mural, and the Union Building cafeteria. Each digital image includes a title, repository, original and copyright dates, description, thumbnail and larger images, subjects and contributor. XU Yearbook XU Digital Yearbooks (1924-2005; all full-text; general copyright information) contains the full-text of Xavier University's student yearbook. Named after the University's mascot, the Musketeer, the yearbook was published from 1924 to 2005 with several gaps in publication: no yearbooks were published from 1943-1946 due to World War II and yearbooks were not published in 1972-1973 or 1988-1989. The yearbook ceased publication in 2005 due to a lack of student interest and poor sales. The yearbooks chronicle every academic year with text and pictures of students, faculty, and events, with occasional sections on world events. The yearbooks constitute a pictorial history of the Xavier University campus, its students, administrators and faculty. It is an especially rich source for understanding student life and activities, including academics, honor societies, clubs, student government, performances, publications, debates & oratoricals, contests & awards, proms & balls, homecomings, intramural sports and athletics. The yearbook collection was scanned in 2006 from original print copies housed in the Xavier University Library. The digital version is provided in searchable PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format).
