EBSCO eBook Collection (covers 1980-2011; all full-text; tutorials; RefWorks help; XLinks) incorporates the former netLibrary electronic book collection with thousands of purchased and public domain titles with a broad coverage of topics. Users can preview an e-book online, read a page in depth, jump to specific page, or use links in the table of contents or index to go to specific chapters or topics of interest. Every word in every e-book is searchable. In addition to keyword, users can search by author, title, subject, category, ISBN, publisher, and/or date of publication. Using the Choose Databases feature, e-books can be searched along with other EBSCO databases that provide primarily journal articles. Table of contents can be previewed at the search results display without checking out or opening the e-book. Once the e-book is opened users can search within the book, consult a dictionary, zoom text, ans expand the viewing window. To create notes or add an e-book to a folder requires setting up an account. Output options include print (typically limited to 60 pages), email, and export to bibliographic management software like RefWorks. Also available are citing information for the major citation styles, bookmarking in social networking sites like Facebook, and perma-linking on websites and course management systems. Mango Language Learning Center (off-campus link via OhioLINK authentication; audio files) is an online language-learning system that can help you learn languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish and many more. It also offers English language lessons if English is not your first language. The system is divided into modules that have clear goals related to conversation and pronunciation. It uses a variety of teaching methods including audio, flashcards, repetition, and cultural notes. It also contain a translation feature. Click the Start Learning button to begin. Moses Dawson Correspondence (1811-1844) consists of letters written between 1811 and 1844 to Moses Dawson, editor of the Cincinnati Advertiser, which later became the Cincinnati Enquirer. The letters were written by four American presidents (Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, James Knox Polk, and William Henry Harrison), military personnel, and other notable individuals. The collection includes digitized versions of the original letters, transcriptions of the letters, biographical information about Dawson and selected correspondents, finding aids, a thesis written about Dawson by a Xavier University student, documents describing the time period, and newspaper announcements about the collection, all in portable document format (PDF). The collection was given to Xavier University in 1934 by Joseph Debar, a prominent alumnus of Xavier University, who acquired it from his father-in-law, Moses Dawson.. It examines the lives and works of authors and illustrators of children and young adult literature. It contains more than 12,000 entries that include autobiographies, biographies, and obituaries. SWON Greater Cincinnati Memory Project is a collection of nearly 6,000 pre-1940 photographs, postcards and slides of landmarks and events in the greater Cincinnati area. Seven participating libraries and museums (providing collections and local
funds) and five co-sponsors (providing local funds) were involved in the
development of an online database of these local history materials. Funding was also provided via a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant.
