XU Digital Newspaper (1915-1 year from present; all full-text; general copyright information) contains the entire content in digital format of Xavier University's student newspaper, The Newswire. The student newspaper reports on key historical events and gives students' reflections and viewpoints on events of national and local importance, such as the death of President Kennedy and the nation at war in the 1940s. The voice of change throughout Xavier's history, the newspaper documents the merger of EdgeCliff College, the effects of coeducation, and the introduction of computers on campus. Most importantly the newspaper chronicles everyday life and general activities, from athletic achievements on the field to Xavier's Centennial celebration. The newspaper collection was scanned in 2007 from microfilm copies. The digital version is provided in searchable PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format). Users can browse individual issues and years or search the full-text content. The microfilm version is housed in the library's archives. XU Digital Newspaper is published by Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, and the user interface is provided by CONTENTdm.

XU Digital Photographs (general copyright information; how to cite and fair use handout;) is a pilot project featuring digital images from the university archives of participating AJCU (Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities) institutions. University archives typically serve as the chief historical resource for materials about a university, its people, programs and culture. Xavier University's contributions to the pilot AJCU collection include 11 historical photographs depicting alumni activities, a historical campus view, general science classes, Bellarmine Chapel dedication, the journey of St. Francis Xavier mural, and the Union Building cafeteria. Each digital image includes a title, repository, original and copyright dates, description, thumbnail and larger images, subjects and contributor. XU Digital Yearbooks (1924-2005; all full-text; general copyright information) contains the full-text of Xavier University's student yearbook. Named after the University's mascot, the Musketeer, the yearbook was published from 1924 to 2005 with several gaps in publication: no yearbooks were published from 1943-1946 due to World War II and yearbooks were not published in 1972-1973 or 1988-1989. The yearbook ceased publication in 2005 due to a lack of student interest and poor sales. The yearbooks chronicle every academic year with text and pictures of students, faculty, and events, with occasional sections on world events. The yearbooks constitute a pictorial history of the Xavier University campus, its students, administrators and faculty. It is an especially rich source for understanding student life and activities, including academics, honor societies, clubs, student government, performances, publications, debates & oratoricals, contests & awards, proms & balls, homecomings, intramural sports and athletics. The yearbook collection was scanned in 2006 from original print copies housed in the Xavier University Library. The digital version is provided in searchable PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format). Users can browse and/or search all volumes, individual years or the full-text content. The print version of the yearbook is available in the library's reference and special collections; the microfilm version is housed in the library's archives. XU Digital Yearbooks is published by Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, and the user interface is provided by CONTENTdm.
