ACCUNET Multimedia Archive/AP Images (1840-present; updated daily; full-text captions) contains over 750,000 of the Associated Press' best photographs, over 380,000 audio files (requiring RealPlayer) and links to 800,000 full-text articles. About 800 photos are added daily and about 200 photos from the historical collection are added monthly. It includes maps, graphs, charts, logos, flags and illustrations, including 2,000 graphics using Spanish instead of English. Audio files, images and other graphics may be downloaded and used for educational purposes. Educators may search by state and grade level for images applicable to a specific state curriculum standard. African American Experience (African-American origins to the present; all full-text) is a cross-searchable collection of African-American history and culture. It covers the arts, biography, business, civil rights, education, folklore, history, literature, music, politics, pop culture, science, slavery, sports, and technology. This collection includes the African-American Greenwood encyclopedias, other references books, and 67 Negro University Press texts from the late 1700s to the early 1970s. Primary sources include 4,000 interviews wtih former slaves (the WPA slave narratives), as well as manuscripts, speeches, court cases, quotations, advertisements, and statistics. ART Collection (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center: Art and Architecture Digital Media. It contains 52,855 digital images of works of art from museums around the world. It highlights the creative output of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times, and covers the complete range of expressive forms. Images include a broad range of works of the following genres: painting, sculpture, photography, print, drawing, ceramic, textiles, metalwork, furniture, books and scrolls, architecture, and archeological finds. Black Drama (1850-present; all full-text; XLinks) contains approximately 1200 plays by 201 playwrights, together with detailed information on related productions, theaters, production companies, and more. Some 440 of the plays are published here for the first time, including a number by major authors. Users can search by author, characters, productions, companies, years, plays, theaters, and scenes. Dolphin Embryo Digitized Slides (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center. It contains scanned images of histological sections captured using a digital camera connected to a microscope. The collection consists of many sections per single embryo. Each embryo is identified by a name, such as LACM 94674. A section number follows the name, e.g. LACM 94674-100 is section 100. The specimens are examples of Pantropical Spotted Dolphin (Stenella attenuata) and were made available by the Los Angeles County Museum. It includes books in the Vault Career Library. Users can search for words in the subject, title or full-text of books in this collection. Content can be easily copied and pasted into a word processing document. Books in this collection are protected by copyright laws and there are limitations on the number of pages that can be printed and copied. EBSCO Animals (all full-text; video tutorials; RefWorks help; XLinks) provides easy-to-read entries about mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, dinosaurs and prehistoric animals. Each entry includes the animal's kingdom, class, order, genus, species and geographical locale as well as a detailed description. Many entries include colorful images. Eighteenth Century Fiction (1700-1780; all full-text; XLinks) contains 96 works of English prose fiction, written by writers from the British Isles. It includes all of the most widely-studied texts and others long neglected or unavailable. English Prose Drama (1600-1900; all full-text; XLinks) is based on plays listed in the New Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature that were written or intended for the stage and wholly or primarily in prose. Lake Erie's Yesterdays (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains a collection of historic photographs of northwestern Ohio, documenting the local history of the Erie islands and Lake Erie's western basin. These 1,087 black and white images were produced by Sandusky, Ohio, commerical photographer Ernst Niebergall between 1909 and 1915. From ice harvesting and railroads to early aviation and island leisure activities, the Niebergall photographs richly depict the everyday lives and activities of Lake Erie's southern shoreline residents. The photographs provide a record of communities in transition as old methods gave way to advances in industry and technology. The original photos were part of the Charles E. Frohman Collection at the Manuscripts Division of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center. The user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

LANDSAT 7 Satellite Images (updated every 16 days) is part of OhioLINK's digital Media Center and makes Ohio-based satellite data available for download or web viewing. Several views are available, including infrared and true color composite. Urban growth, natural resource loss, and crop health are a few of the environmental issues that may be monitored with this type of satellite data. Latino American Experience (pre-Columbian to the present; all full-text) is a cross-searchable collection of Latino American history and culture. It covers the arts, business, civil rights, customs, education, folklore, history, icons, immigration, labor, law, literature, medicine, music, politics, religion, science, sports, and women. This collection includes over 150 titles from Greenwood, Praeger, Arte Publico, and Columbia University Press. Special features include Spanish language content, a timeline, an origins section, lesson plans, hundreds of primary documents, over 1,500 images, and En mi Opinion, a blog of essays and podcasts focusing on the latest issues facing US Latinos. It includes online versions of Gale's Contemporay Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism, and Dictionary of Literary Biography, as well as selections from Gale's other Literature Criticism and For Students Series, such as Nineteenth Century Literary Criticism and Short Stories for Students. Manuscriptorium (some full-text) provides bibliographic information about old printed books and manuscripts with links to digital copies of a subset of these catalogued items. Users can search by settlement (town or city where the item is held), repository (institution responsible for the administration of the item) or query (keyword). Results can be restricted to items that have a full digital document or a digital map. To view digital content, click the title of an item. Then click Display existing digital copy in top, left corner of the item's description. Thumbnail images of each page can be enlarged by clicking them. National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Digital Images (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains digital documents related to slavery, abolition, and emancipation. The collection includes abolitionist broadsheets, photographs by Matthew Brady, letters and speeches of President Lincoln and other presidents, and other historic letters, documents, and pictures. The original documents are found in the Gilder Lehrman Collection of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. North American Immigrant Letters, Diaries & Oral Histories (1800-1950; all full-text; XLinks) contains 2,162 authors and approximately 100,000 pages of information providing a unique and personal view of what it meant to immigrate to America and Canada between 1800 and 1950. Saskia Art History Images (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center: Art and Architecture Digital Media. It contains 1,009 digital images of paintings and sculptures located in museums worldwide. It also contains digital images of photographs of architectural structures located throughout the world. Each entry includes the title, creator, creation date, object type, measurements, materials, style/period, owner, accession number, contributor and a stable link to the item. Wright Brothers Digital Photographs (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains a collection of photographs documenting the invention of the airplane, the lives of the Wright Family, and the Wright brothers' flying exhibitions in Europe and the United States. The collection provides thorough coverage of the Wright brothers' early inventive period documenting their early gliders and flight testing in both North Carolina and Ohio. Much of it should show that Orville and Wilbur Wright were technically excellent photographers who painstakingly documented their process of invention. The content posted to date also provides a valuable record of their home life, camp life, and the flora and fauna of the Outer Banks 100 year ago. These photos are from The Wright Brothers Collection housed in Special Collections and Archives at the Wright State University Libraries, one of the most complete collections of Wright material in the world. XU Digital Newspaper (1915-1 year from present; all full-text; general copyright information) contains the entire content in digital format of Xavier University's student newspaper, The Newswire. The student newspaper reports on key historical events and gives students' reflections and viewpoints on events of national and local importance, such as the death of President Kennedy and the nation at war in the 1940s. The voice of change throughout Xavier's history, the newspaper documents the merger of EdgeCliff College, the effects of coeducation, and the introduction of computers on campus. Most importantly the newspaper chronicles everyday life and general activities, from athletic achievements on the field to Xavier's Centennial celebration. The newspaper collection was scanned in 2007 from microfilm copies. The digital version is provided in searchable PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format). XU Digital Photographs (general copyright information; how to cite and fair use handout;) is a pilot project featuring digital images from the university archives of participating AJCU (Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities) institutions. University archives typically serve as the chief historical resource for materials about a university, its people, programs and culture. Xavier University's contributions to the pilot AJCU collection include 11 historical photographs depicting alumni activities, a historical campus view, general science classes, Bellarmine Chapel dedication, the journey of St. Francis Xavier mural, and the Union Building cafeteria. Each digital image includes a title, repository, original and copyright dates, description, thumbnail and larger images, subjects and contributor. XU Digital Yearbooks (1924-2005; all full-text; general copyright information) contains the full-text of Xavier University's student yearbook. Named after the University's mascot, the Musketeer, the yearbook was published from 1924 to 2005 with several gaps in publication: no yearbooks were published from 1943-1946 due to World War II and yearbooks were not published in 1972-1973 or 1988-1989. The yearbook ceased publication in 2005 due to a lack of student interest and poor sales. The yearbooks chronicle every academic year with text and pictures of students, faculty, and events, with occasional sections on world events. The yearbooks constitute a pictorial history of the Xavier University campus, its students, administrators and faculty. It is an especially rich source for understanding student life and activities, including academics, honor societies, clubs, student government, performances, publications, debates & oratoricals, contests & awards, proms & balls, homecomings, intramural sports and athletics. The yearbook collection was scanned in 2006 from original print copies housed in the Xavier University Library. The digital version is provided in searchable PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format). Users can browse and/or search all volumes, individual years or the full-text content.
