It indexes and abstracts over 9,300 journals, many of them peer-reviewed (4,400), and provides full-text for over 5,300 journals. It also includes indexing and abstracts for books, reports, conference proceedings, etc. Searchable cited references are provided for 1,000 journals. CQ Researcher (1991-present; all full-text; RefWorks help; XLinks) is the online version of the CQ Researcher print publication. It provides original, comprehensive reporting and analysis on issues in the news. Each issue discussed includes an abstract, overview, background, current situation, outlook, special focus, chronology, pro/con, bibliography, next step, contacts, and footnotes. The multidisciplinary arts & sciences collection was updated in June 2009 with an additional 120 titles, bringing the total number of journals in this collection to 749. JSTOR also includes 8,200 19th Century British pamphlets. Ohio's Newspapers (most from 1990s-present; all full-text, although none in PDF; RefWorks help) provides access to 5 Ohio newspapers: The Toledo Blade (1/1/1996-present), The Cincinnati Post (4/1/1980-12/31/2007), The Columbus Dispatch (7/16/1985-present), The Dayton Daily News (1/1/1990-present), and The Cleveland Plain Dealer (6/1/1981-present). Readers' Guide Retrospective (1890-1982; some full-text; XLinks; RefWorks help) covers topics such as history, culture, science, and seminal developments and history-making events appearing in the popular press. This retrospective database offers indexing for more than 3 million articles from more than 550 leading magazines. It was produced by H. W. Wilson and the user interface is provided by EBSCO host.

Scopus (much full-text; 1823-present; RefWorks help) contains 18,500 titles with 70% from international sources. It includes 17,000 peer-reviewed journals, over 3 million conference papers, 600 trade publications, 24 million patents, and 359 book series. It covers the arts & humanities as well as the social, health, physical, and life sciences. Users can search by keyword, author, article title, journal, and other parameters. Citations include cited references and times cited information as well as journal ranking information. This database contains about 2,400 embedded full-text journals in addition to the full-text provided via OhioLINK. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Elsevier. XU faculty, staff, and students need to authenticate via OhioLINK both on and off campus using their MyXU portal username and password.

Web of Knowledge (alternative link; 1980-present plus citations to older cited references; updated weekly; some full-text; RefWorks Help; tutorial; citation alerts; saving searches & creating alerts; journal titles) includes the following multidisciplinary citation databases which can be searched separately: Arts & Humanities Citation Index, Science Citation Index, and Social Sciences Citation Index. The unique feature of these databases is that researchers can take a known, relevant paper and find other more recent papers that cite it. It also includes Journal Citation Reports, BIOSIS Citation Index, BIOSIS Previews, Derwent Innovations Index, and MEDLINE. Click Select a Database to search these databases separately. It covers topics such as alcohol and drug abuse counseling, audiology, biotechnology, computer and data processing, CAD, cosmetology, electrical technology, fashion design, forensics, graphic arts, health information technology, interior design, law enforcement, criminal justice, paralegal studies, robotics, travel, tourism, veterinary assisting, and more. It contains far more peer-reviewed, business-related journals than any other database currently available. It contains searchable cited references for 1,200 journals and 20,000 detailed author profiles. It covers all subject areas related to business, including management, marketing, economics, finance, accounting, and international business. OAIster (updated weekly; much full-text and other digital content; RefWorks help) serves as a portal for more than 19 million digital resources from over 1,000 organizations developed by the University of Michigan and harvested using OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting). It includes digital items such as books and articles, audio files, images, videos, and datasets (downloadable statistics files). Users can search by keyword, title, creator, subject or resource type (audio, dataset, image, text, or video). Searches yield a detailed and well-organized description of the resource and a persistent/stable link to the resource itself. Indexed content includes the Library of Congress' American Memory Project, various pre-print and e-print servers, and digital thesis and dissertation collections.
