Computer Source (1985-present; much full-text; tutorials; RefWorks help; XLinks) provides researchers with the latest information and current trends in high technology. This database offers full text for nearly 300 publications, covering topics such as computer science, programming, artificial intelligence, cybernetics, information systems, robotics, and software. In addition, this database offers indexing and abstracts for nearly 450 publications. Leading general magazines are also provided including: eWeek, MacWorld, PC Magazine, PC World, etc. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by EBSCO Publishing.

Computers & Applied Sciences Complete (much full-text; tutorials; RefWorks help; XLinks) covers the spectrum of the applied sciences, including many engineering disciplines, computer theory & systems, and new technologies. It also covers the business, social and professional contexts of computers and the applied sciences. It indexes and abstracts more than 1,300 academic journals, professional publications, and other reference sources from a diverse collection. Electronic Journal Center (about 1995-present; updates dependent upon publisher; all full-text; RefWorks help; XLinks; saving searches) is a multidisciplinary collection of about 5,000 journals published by Academic Press, American Chemical Society, American Institute of Physics, American Physical Society, American Psychological Association (PsycARTICLES), Association of Computing Machinery, Berkeley Electronic Press, BioOne, Blackwell, Cambridge University Press, Elsevier, Emerald (MCB University Press), Ingenta, Institute of Physics, Kluwer, Lawrence Erlbaum, Optical Society of America, Oxford University Press, Project MUSE, Royal Society of Chemistry, Springer-Verlag, Thieme and Wiley. Scholars can be notified by email about new relevant articles according to subject, author or journal title. It is compiled by and the user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

Gartner Group Data is a source of business and technology intelligence and includes global market knowledge for the IT and telecom industries. It helps channel strategies, differentiate products, assess competitors, and sharpen forecasts about market size and market share. This database is licensed for only Xavier faculty, staff and students. Access off-campus through the VPN with NETWORK CONNECT enabled.

Oxford Reference Online, Computing (all full-text; XLinks; RefWorks help) is a cross-searchable database of 3 encyclopedias, dictionaries and reference works published covering computing and the Internet as well as a dictionary of weights, measures and units. It is published by and the user interface is provided by Oxford University Press. This subscription is limited to 5 simultaneous users.

John Walkenbach's Excel 2007 Charts & Joseph Schmuller's Statistical Analysis with Excel for DummiesSafari Tech Books Online (updated monthly; all full-text; Using this resource; XLinks; RefWorks help) includes 1,556 technology electronic books covering topics such as artificial intelligence, certification, databases, desktop applications, e-commerce, graphics, IT management, markup languages, multimedia, networking, operating systems, programming, security, and software engineering. It is produced by Safari and the user interface is provided by ProQuest. No reader is required to use these electronic books. The best way to find ebooks is in the XPLORE Library Catalog. Just look for the ebook icon: Electronic book (no reader required)

Science Citation Index (SCI) (alternative link; 1980-present; updated weekly; some full-text; RefWorks Help; tutorial; citation alerts; saving searches & creating alerts; journal titles) provides bibliographic information and cited references for over 5,700 scientific research journals. It covers agriculture, astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer science, dentistry, ecology, engineering, environmental sciences, geography, mathematics, medicine, physics, plant sciences, psychiatry, veterinary sciences, and zoology. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). Click Change Limits and Settings to search only this database. Click Register or Sign In to save searches and receive search history and citation alerts. Evidence-Based Practice Tip: To limit search results to articles with some level of evidence: Type your topic in the textboxes provided. Type your academic disicipline (e.g., occupational therapy, social work, nursing) in the next available textbox. Type research in the next available textbox. Click the down arrow adjacent to the last two textboxes and select Topic.

Science Online (all full-text; XLinks) is an online encyclopedia and NOT the journal, Science. It offers a comprehensive, curriculum-oriented overview of a broad range of scientific disciplines including biology and life sciences, chemistry, computer science, earth science, environmental science, forensic science, mathematics, physics, space and astronomy, and weather and climate. Content is organized by subject area and type of resource, as well as by national and state science education standards. It contains over 6,800 printable diagrams, illustrations and images; hundreds of videos and flash animations; over 1,000 science experiments and activities indexed by grade and time required; thousands of biographies of key scientists; thousands of definitions; a searchable timeline of science history; and national and state science education standards. Academic Search Complete (1985-present; updated daily; more full-text; tutorials; RefWorks help; XLinks) is a multidisciplinary database that covers nearly all academic areas of study. It indexes and abstracts over 9,300 journals, many of them peer-reviewed (4,400), and provides full-text for over 5,300 journals. It also includes indexing and abstracts for books, reports, conference proceedings, etc. Searchable cited references are provided for 1,000 journals. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by EBSCO Publishing.

Annual Reviews (some 1932-present; all full-text; XLinks) offers a comprehensive collection of critical reviews written by leading scientists in 30 disciplines within the biomedical, physical, and social sciences. Note: the library has not purchased the full-text all of the academic disciplines represented in this database. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Annual Reviews.

Cabell's Directories provides full-text directory information for business, education, psychology/psychiatry, and computer science/information systems journal publications. Each journal entry includes submission information (editor’s name, address, phone, fax, email, web address); publication guidelines (manuscript length, copies required, format, fees, style, computer submission); circulation data (reader type, frequency, number of subscribers, publisher, price); review information (type of reveiws, number of in-house and external reviewers, acceptance rate, time it takes to review, percent of invited articles, reviewers coments, publishing fees); manuscript topics included; and manuscript guidelines. INSPEC Archive (1898-1968; RefWorks help; video tutorial) provides access to Science Abstracts journals and covers over 70 years of international scientific and technical literature in physics and engineering. It is produced by the Institution of Electrical Engineers and the user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

JSTOR (1st issue of 1st volume to 3 years from present; all full-text; Video tutorial; Handout tutorial; RefWorks help; XLinks; title list) provides online access to back issues of selected scholarly journals in a variety of academic disciplines including the arts, business, demographic studies, humanities, social sciences, and science. The multidisciplinary arts & sciences collection was updated in June 2009 with an additional 120 titles, bringing the total number of journals in this collection to 749. JSTOR also includes 8,200 19th Century British pamphlets. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by JSTOR, a not-for-profit organization that serves and is supported by the scholarly community. NOTE: journal content published prior to 1923 in the US and prior to 1870 elsewhere is freely available to the public for reading and downloading (nearly 500.000 articles from more than 200 journals).

MathSciNet (1940-present; reviews updated monthly, other content daily; some full-text for articles; all full-text for Mathematical Reviews; RefWorks help; Tutorials) provides access to over 59 years of Mathematical Reviews of 1,800 journals, conference proceedings and mathematical books.
