ACCUNET Multimedia Archive/AP Images (1840-present; updated daily; full-text captions) contains over 750,000 of the Associated Press' best photographs, over 380,000 audio files (requiring RealPlayer) and links to 800,000 full-text articles. About 800 photos are added daily and about 200 photos from the historical collection are added monthly. It includes maps, graphs, charts, logos, flags and illustrations, including 2,000 graphics using Spanish instead of English. Audio files, images and other graphics may be downloaded and used for educational purposes. Educators may search by state and grade level for images applicable to a specific state curriculum standard. Users can preview an e-book online, read a page in depth, jump to specific page, or use links in the table of contents or index to go to specific chapters or topics of interest. Every word in every e-book is searchable. In addition to keyword, users can search by author, title, subject, category, ISBN, publisher, and/or date of publication. Kent State Shootings, Oral Histories (XLinks) contains a collection of 69 oral histories related to the May 4, 1970 shootings of Vietnam War protestors at Kent State University. The oral histories include many eyewitness accounts of the event and its aftermath, contributed by people who were students, faculty members, and City of Kent residents at the time, as well as an account by an Ohio National Guardsman. Lake Erie's Yesterdays (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Resource Commons and contains a collection of historic photographs of northwestern Ohio, documenting the local history of the Erie islands and Lake Erie's western basin. These 1,087 black and white images were produced by Sandusky, Ohio, commerical photographer Ernst Niebergall between 1909 and 1915. From ice harvesting and railroads to early aviation and island leisure activities, the Niebergall photographs richly depict the everyday lives and activities of Lake Erie's southern shoreline residents. The photographs provide a record of communities in transition as old methods gave way to advances in industry and technology. The original photos were part of the Charles E. Wright Brothers Collection (XLinks) contains a collection of photographs documenting the invention of the airplane, the lives of the Wright family, and the Wright brothers' flying exhibitions in Europe and the United States. The collection provides thorough coverage of the Wright brothers' early inventive period documenting their early gliders and flight testing in both North Carolina and Ohio. Much of it should show that Orville and Wilbur Wright were technically excellent photographers who painstakingly documented their process of invention. The content posted to date also provides a valuable record of their home life, camp life, and the flora and fauna of the Outer Banks 100 year ago. American Song is a history database that allows people to hear and feel the music from America's past.The database includes songs by and about American Indians, miners, immigrants, slaves, children, pioneers, and cowboys. Included in the database are the songs of Civil Rights, political campaigns, Prohibition, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, anti-war protests, and more. It includes 7,141 albums inclding content nt from African American Music. Users can create playlists if they create an account. It is compiled and produced by Alexander Street Press.

Annals of American History (all full-text; XLinks) is an encyclopedia that covers the arts, business, democracy, discrimination, diversity, education, expansion, family, government, imperialism, labor, law, leisure, peace, religion,and war. It provides 2,000 primary documents in American history, including speeches, historical accounts, memoirs, editorials and cultural criticism. Multimedia files include over 500 pictures, hundreds of video clips, and audio files of famous speeches. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Business Abstracts with Full-Text (1981-present; Much full-text; Tutorials; RefWorks help; XLinks) contains indexing and abstracts for nearly 880 publications and the full-text for nearly half. It provides product evaluations, interviews, biographical sketches, corporate profiles, obituaries, surveys, statistical rankings, book reviews and reports from associations, societies, trade shows, conferences and more. It includes over 600,000 corporate names with cross references to specific industries and countries as well as access to charts, graphs, photographs, and other graphical content. Users can find Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) industry and product codes for over 190,000 terms. Encyclopedia of Religion (2nd edition; all full-text; RefWorks help; XLinks) is considered a standard reference in religion. This electronic book/database presents a cross-cultural approach that emphasizes religion's role within everyday life and as a unique experience from culture to culture. The original 2,750 entries have been retained, many heavily updated, and approximately 600 entirely new articles have been added by an international team of scholars and contributors. Moses Dawson Correspondence (1811-1844) consists of letters written between 1811 and 1844 to Moses Dawson, editor of the Cincinnati Advertiser, which later became the Cincinnati Enquirer. The letters were written by four American presidents (Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, James Knox Polk, and William Henry Harrison), military personnel, and other notable individuals. The collection includes digitized versions of the original letters, transcriptions of the letters, biographical information about Dawson and selected correspondents, finding aids, a thesis written about Dawson by a Xavier University student, documents describing the time period, and newspaper announcements about the collection, all in portable document format (PDF). The collection was given to Xavier University in 1934 by Joseph Debar, a prominent alumnus of Xavier University, who acquired it from his father-in-law, Moses Dawson.. It is a Spanish language reference resource for native Spanish speakers, bilingual students, and students learning Spanish. XU Digital PhotographsXU Digital Photographs (general copyright information; how to cite and fair use handout;) is a pilot project featuring digital images from the university archives of participating AJCU (Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities) institutions. University archives typically serve as the chief historical resource for materials about a university, its people, programs and culture. Xavier University's contributions to the pilot AJCU collection include 11 historical photographs depicting alumni activities, a historical campus view, general science classes, Bellarmine Chapel dedication, the journey of St. Francis Xavier mural, and the Union Building cafeteria. Each digital image includes a title, repository, original and copyright dates, description, thumbnail and larger images, subjects and contributor. XU YearbookXU Digital Yearbooks (1924-2005; all full-text; general copyright information) contains the full-text of Xavier University's student yearbook. Named after the University's mascot, the Musketeer, the yearbook was published from 1924 to 2005 with several gaps in publication: no yearbooks were published from 1943-1946 due to World War II and yearbooks were not published in 1972-1973 or 1988-1989. The yearbook ceased publication in 2005 due to a lack of student interest and poor sales. The yearbooks chronicle every academic year with text and pictures of students, faculty, and events, with occasional sections on world events. The yearbooks constitute a pictorial history of the Xavier University campus, its students, administrators and faculty. It is an especially rich source for understanding student life and activities, including academics, honor societies, clubs, student government, performances, publications, debates & oratoricals, contests & awards, proms & balls, homecomings, intramural sports and athletics. The yearbook collection was scanned in 2006 from original print copies housed in the Xavier University Library. The digital version is provided in searchable PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format).
