OhioLINK Library Catalog (updated daily; video tutorials; RefWorks help; XLinks) provides access to more than 48 million items located at 89 college, university, public, and state libraries in Ohio. Users may request items online (printable instructions; video tutorial) and pick them up in 3 business days at an OhioLINK library of their choosing. When available there are links to Read (full-text available) and Limited Preview (limited full-text available) at Google Books. It includes all of the library's books, journals, audiovisuals, and microform materials. Search XPLORE by keyword, author, title and Library of Congress subject heading. If you don't find what you need, request it online (printable instructions; video tutorial) from OhioLINK, the combined library catalog of 88 college, university, public, and state libraries in Ohio.

WorldCat (1000 BC-present; updated daily; RefWorks help) contains millions of bibliographic records for all material cataloged by OCLC member libraries. It includes books, computer programs, films and slides, journals and magazines, chapters, papers, manuscripts, maps, musical scores, newspapers, sound recordings, videotapes and websites. It also includes Net First and the Union List of Periodicals. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by OCLC (Online Computer Library Center).

AdCritic.com (images and video; much full-text) delivers the latest news and information about the advertising and commercial production industries and offers a growing database of the best creative work. It covers latest spots, breaking news, opinion, AdCritic top 20, anniversary top 50, music, events (Super Bowl, Cannes Festival), no-spot film festival, production preview, who did that spot, images & footage, location scout, and features from the editorial staff of Creativity Magazine published by Advertising Age Group. Adforum (images, audio and video; all full-text) provides information on over 18,000 agencies and 50,000 ads from around the world. Users can view TV, radio, cinema, Internet, print and outdoor ad campaigns from their desktops. Users can search for ads by keyword, media type, product, brand name, business sector, agency, country, celebrity or award. Ads with and without a shopping cart can be viewed. ACCUNET Multimedia Archive/AP Images (1840-present; updated daily; full-text captions) contains over 750,000 of the Associated Press' best photographs, over 380,000 audio files (requiring RealPlayer) and links to 800,000 full-text articles. About 800 photos are added daily and about 200 photos from the historical collection are added monthly. It includes maps, graphs, charts, logos, flags and illustrations, including 2,000 graphics using Spanish instead of English. Audio files, images and other graphics may be downloaded and used for educational purposes. Educators may search by state and grade level for images applicable to a specific state curriculum standard. African American Experience (African-American origins to the present; all full-text) is a cross-searchable collection of African-American history and culture. It covers the arts, biography, business, civil rights, education, folklore, history, literature, music, politics, pop culture, science, slavery, sports, and technology. This collection includes the African-American Greenwood encyclopedias, other references books, and 67 Negro University Press texts from the late 1700s to the early 1970s. Primary sources include 4,000 interviews wtih former slaves (the WPA slave narratives), as well as manuscripts, speeches, court cases, quotations, advertisements, and statistics. Special features include a timeline dating from the 1400s to the present, In their Own Voices audio clips of slave interviews and music, lesson plans, and hundreds of photographs, maps and images. Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics Digital Sounds (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains about 30,000 recordings of over 1,000 species of animals. It includes over 10,000 digitized recordings of songbirds, primarily warblers, tanagers, and sparrows. Real Media Player or Real Media Alternative is required to play these recordings. The Borror Laboratory was founded by the late Dr. Donald Borror, Professor of Entomology and Zoology at The Ohio State University. Britannica Online Korea (all full-text; XLinks) is an authoritative Korean-language reference source that includes more than 110,000 articles from the Korean version of Encyclopaedia Britannica, the Korean Britannica Book of the Year, Yonsei University's Korean Dictionary, and a world atlas. It includes more than 19,300 photos, graphics, animations, videos, and audio clips. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. Britannica Online School Edition (all full-text; XLinks) includes Britannica Elementary Encyclopedia, Britannica Concise Encyclopedia, Compton's by Britannica, Encyclopaedia Britannica, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, journals and magazines, websites, and videos. It also contains learning materials for the language arts, science, social studies, and mathematics as well as teacher's resources. The Britannica Learning Zone is an audio-guided, colorful, and interactive user interface for pre-K2 children. In this special feature a dog named Newton prompts children to explore the world, play, learn fun words, or make a drawing. CAMIO (Catalog of Art Museum Images) (XLinks) provides high-quality art images from around the world contributed and described by leading museums, all rights-cleared for educational use. Every work in CAMIO is represented by at least one high-resolution image and a description. Many have additional views of the work, sound, video and curatorial notes. It covers antiquity to the present, and includes photographs, prints, sculptures, paintings decorative arts, posters, utilitarian objects, and jewelry. This database supports not only art history, studio art and design programs but also provides a rich context for history, religion and other humanities disciplines. CAMIO fills the gap left by the end of operations of the Art Museum Image Consortium (AMICO). It is produced by AMICO and the user interface is provided by OCLC (Online Computer Library Center).

It features over 65,000 images (art, diagrams, maps and photos), several thousand images from the National Gallery in London, and over 93,000 audio pronunciation files accessible in the advanced search. Each country includes a detailed map, flag, national anthem, current time, currency converter, recipe collection, facts and statistics as well as sections on history, climate, the people, customs, courtesies, lifestyle and society. Encyclopaedia Universalis (French) (all full-text; XLinks) is the most comprehensive encyclopedia in the French Language. It provides access to more than 33,000 articles; 17,000 media items; a world atlas with over 700 maps; an integrated dictionary with 120,000 entries; and a guide to selected websites. GREENR (all full-text; RefWorks help; XLinks) stands for Global Reference on the Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources (GREENR). It brings together academic journal, newspaper, and magazine articles, as well as reference and primary sources, conference presentations and reports, statistics, case studies, podcasts, videos, images, Websites and blogs, involvement suggestions, and related portals on hundreds of green topics and issues. Users can search or browse green topics such as energy, the environment, pollution, ecology, and resource management, as well as green-related issues in agriculture, food systems, science, technology, economics, trade, law, and politics. In the First Person (1550-present; all full-text; XLinks) is an in-depth index of more than 3,350 collections of personal narratives in English from around the world. Users can keyword search more than 650,000 pages of full-text by more than 15,000 individuals from all walks of life. It also contains pointers to some 3,500 audio and video files and 30,000 bibliographic records. The index contains approximately 20,500 months of diary entries, 63,000 letter entries, and 17,000 oral history entires. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by Alexander Street Press in collaboration with the University of Chicago. Although this database is free, it links to other subscription-only Alexander Street databases, many of which have been purchased by Xavier's library.

Kent State Shootings, Oral Histories (XLinks) is a part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center and contains a collection of 69 oral histories related to the May 4, 1970 shootings of Vietnam War protestors at Kent State University. The oral histories include many eyewitness accounts of the event and its aftermath, contributed by people who were students, faculty members, and City of Kent residents at the time, as well as an account by an Ohio National Guardsman. Apple's free QuickTime player is required to listen to the audio files. Written transcripts are also available for many of the oral histories. It was contributed by Kent State University Libraries & Media Services and the user interface is provided by OhioLINK.

Latino American Experience (pre-Columbian to the present; all full-text) is a cross-searchable collection of Latino American history and culture. It covers the arts, business, civil rights, customs, education, folklore, history, icons, immigration, labor, law, literature, medicine, music, politics, religion, science, sports, and women. This collection includes over 150 titles from Greenwood, Praeger, Arte Publico, and Columbia University Press. Special features include Spanish language content, a timeline, an origins section, lesson plans, hundreds of primary documents, over 1,500 images, and En mi Opinion, a blog of essays and podcasts focusing on the latest issues facing US Latinos. Mango Language Learning Center (off-campus link via OhioLINK authentication; audio files) is an online language-learning system that can help you learn languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish and many more. It also offers English language lessons if English is not your first language. The system is divided into modules that have clear goals related to conversation and pronunciation. It uses a variety of teaching methods including audio, flashcards, repetition, and cultural notes. It also contain a translation feature. Click the Start Learning button to begin. North American Immigrant Letters, Diaries & Oral Histories (1800-1950; all full-text; XLinks) contains 2,162 authors and approximately 100,000 pages of information providing a unique and personal view of what it meant to immigrate to America and Canada between 1800 and 1950. Composed of contemporaneous letters and diaries, oral histories, interviews, and other personal narratives, the series provides a rich source for scholars in a wide range of disciplines. The collection is particularly useful to researchers, because much of the original material is difficult to find, poorly indexed, and unpublished; most bibliographies of the immigrant focus on secondary research; and few oral histories have been published. In selected cases, users will be able to hear the actual audio voices of the immigrants. The showcase provides a selection of cartoons from Puck Magazine and the images of a diary by Rose Qwong. It includes digital items such as books and articles, audio files, images, videos, and datasets (downloadable statistics files). Users can search by keyword, title, creator, subject or resource type (audio, dataset, image, text, or video). Searches yield a detailed and well-organized description of the resource and a persistent/stable link to the resource itself. Indexed content includes the Library of Congress' American Memory Project, various pre-print and e-print servers, and digital thesis and dissertation collections. Spanish Reference Center (all full-text; XLinks) is the most comprehensive encyclopedia in the Spanish language. It includes PlanetaSaber and Enciclopedia Juvenil. PlanetaSaber contains over 145,000 articles, more than 9,100 images, maps, timelines, an atlas, a dictionary, and tables. It is a Spanish language reference resource for native Spanish speakers, bilingual students, and students learning Spanish. Enciclopedia Juvenil provides a Spanish language encyclopedia, images, videos, and learning materials specifically designed or younger learners. Student Research Center (much full-text; RefWorks help; XLinks) provides students in grades 6 through 12 an easy-to-use search interface for databases such as Columbia Encyclopedia, Health Source: Consumer, MAS Ultra, Middle Search Plus, Newspaper Source, Topic Search, and Vocational and Career Collection. Teacher resources search databases such as Academic Search Premier, ERIC and the Professional Development Collection. American Song (XLinks) is a history database that allows users to hear the music from America's past. It includes songs by and about American Indians, miners, immigrants, slaves, children, pioneers, cowboys, and more. It includes the songs of the Civil Rights Movement, political campaigns, prohibition, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, anti-war protests, and more. Other genres include bluegrass, blues, cajun/zydeco, Carribean, folk, hip-hop, jazz, Latin, ragtime, rhythm & blues, sacred, and stage & screen. It includes all content from African-American Song which documents the history of African-American music in an online music listening service. This release features 4,018 albums and 68,114 tracks. Classical Music Library (XLinks) is a streaming classical music service for libraries that enables listening and learning. Browse alphabetical lists of composers, artists, conductors, ensemble, instrument, genre, period and label. Genres include orchestral, chamber, instrumental, stage & screen, vocal & choral, and opera & operetta. It includes images and biographies of artists and conductors, a glossary and definitions of historical music periods. Users can register to create personal playlist folders. Faculty can arrange to have course folders of music selections created for students in their classes. OhioLINK Music Center (OMC) (audio files; XLinks) contains more than 78,000 tracks and 21,000 works of digital music, all available for educational use to students, faculty, and staff of OhioLINK member institutions. Users can search for tracks or albums by keyword or they can browse by genre, composer, performer, track title, work title, or date of composition. Genres include Chinese, classical, contemporary jazz, spoken word, and the world. A Flash player is required to listen to the music. Oxford Music Online (updated quarterly and annually; all full-text; temporary off-campus link; XLinks) is the online version of New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (second edition in 29 volumes).
