ART Collection (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center: Art and Architecture Digital Media. It contains 52,855 digital images of works of art from museums around the world. It highlights the creative output of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times, and covers the complete range of expressive forms. Images include a broad range of works of the following genres: painting, sculpture, photography, print, drawing, ceramic, textiles, metalwork, furniture, books and scrolls, architecture, and archeological finds. Cultures and time periods represented range from contemporary art, Native American and Inuit art, to ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, along with Japanese and Chinese works. This collection was formerly organized by The Art Museum Image Consortium (AMICO), a consortium of museums and libraries, but is now licensed directly from individual museums. Black Thought & Culture (1700-present; all full-text; XLinks) contains 795 sources with 434 authors which includes the non-fiction published works of leading African Americans. Where possible the complete published non-fiction works are included, as well as interviews, journal articles, letters and other fugitive material. Users can search by author, sources, years, historical events, personal events, questions (interviews), and subject. CAMIO (Catalog of Art Museum Images) (XLinks) provides high-quality art images from around the world contributed and described by leading museums, all rights-cleared for educational use. Every work in CAMIO is represented by at least one high-resolution image and a description. Many have additional views of the work, sound, video and curatorial notes. It covers antiquity to the present, and includes photographs, prints, sculptures, paintings decorative arts, posters, utilitarian objects, and jewelry. This database supports not only art history, studio art and design programs but also provides a rich context for history, religion and other humanities disciplines. It indexes 1,700 scholarly journals and incorporates all content from American Humanities Index and Humanities International Index. Iter (400-1700; updated daily) is a database of materials pertaining to the Middle Ages and Renaissance. It contains bibliographic records for materials published in 500 scholarly journals. Manuscriptorium (some full-text) is an open catalog that provides bibliographic information about old printed books and manuscripts with links to digital copies of a subset of these catalogued items. Users can search by settlement (town or city where the item is held), repository (institution responsible for the administration of the item) or query (keyword). Results can be restricted to items that have a full digital document or a digital map. To view digital content, click the title of an item. Then click Display existing digital copy in top, left corner of the item's description. Thumbnail images of each page can be enlarged by clicking them. North American Immigrant Letters, Diaries & Oral Histories (1800-1950; all full-text; XLinks) contains 2,162 authors and approximately 100,000 pages of information providing a unique and personal view of what it meant to immigrate to America and Canada between 1800 and 1950. Composed of contemporaneous letters and diaries, oral histories, interviews, and other personal narratives, the series provides a rich source for scholars in a wide range of disciplines. The collection is particularly useful to researchers, because much of the original material is difficult to find, poorly indexed, and unpublished; most bibliographies of the immigrant focus on secondary research; and few oral histories have been published. In selected cases, users will be able to hear the actual audio voices of the immigrants. The showcase provides a selection of cartoons from Puck Magazine and the images of a diary by Rose Qwong. Saskia Art History Images (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Media Center: Art and Architecture Digital Media. It contains 1,009 digital images of paintings and sculptures located in museums worldwide. It also contains digital images of photographs of architectural structures located throughout the world. Each entry includes the title, creator, creation date, object type, measurements, materials, style/period, owner, accession number, contributor and a stable link to the item. This collection emphasizes the core images required for teaching the history of Western art and is based on Gardner's Art Through the Ages, Stokstad's History of Art and Hartt's History of Italian Renaissance Art. Women and Social Movements (1600-2000; all full-text; XLinks) contains 79 document projects consisting of 2,400 documents from 1,700 primary authors. It includes local, state, and federal Commissions on the Status of Women from 1963 to the present. Publications include reports, pamphlets, posters, reviews, teaching tools and ephemeral materials. Users can browse by sources, authors, documents, images, document projects, teaching tools, social movements, subjects and bibliography. This database will eventually include the complete 5 volumes of Notable American Women: A Biographical Dictionary.
