Finding books, videos, magazines and journals
XPLORE Library Catalog
(tips & tricks;
RefWorks help; XLinks; video tutorials) is Xavier library's online public
access catalog. It includes all of the library's books, journals, audiovisuals, and microform materials. Search XPLORE
by keyword, author, title and Library of Congress subject heading. If you don't find what you need,
request it online (printable instructions; video tutorial) from
OhioLINK, the combined library catalog of 88 college, university, public, and state libraries
in Ohio.
To find a video do a keyword search and limit by "record type" and then by "projected medium" Click here for an example of videos in psychology.
OhioLINK
Library Catalog (updated daily; video tutorials; RefWorks help; XLinks) provides
access to more than 48 million items located at 89 college, university, public, and state libraries in Ohio. Users may request items
online (printable instructions; video tutorial) and pick them up in 3 business days at an OhioLINK library of their
choosing. When available there are links to Read (full-text available) and Limited Preview (limited full-text available) at Google Books. It is produced by OhioLINK and the user interface is provided by Innovative
Interfaces, Inc.
You can request books directly using your XU All-Card. To check the status of a request go to "My Library Record" click here. Finding articles using library databases Use the category for psychology research databases. For importing references from database searches into RefWorks, click here. Fill out an article request form for each article that you want, filling in all the information. Online request forms are available from the Library's home page. Remember it can take 1-2 weeks to get an article through this service. You will be notified by email when your requested articles arrive. Articles and other copied documents are delivered electronically. Your email notification message will contain an Internet addresss and password that you can use to retrieve your document. Please retireve these electronic documents within two weeks. There is no charge for this service. Books that Xavier doesn't own can be ordered through OhioLINK using your all-card. This takes 3-5 days. Book not available from OhioLINK may be ordered from Document Delivery and may take 1-2 weeks. Books and other borrowed items may be picked up at the circulation desk.
