  The 100s essay competition
   
 

Attention: English! History! Philosophy! Theology! students in 100 Level Courses

All students from the Fall '09/Spring '10 writing-intensive 100-level classes* for the above departments are invited to submit papers written for those classes to an essay content sponsored by the Writing Center and the Writing Program.

Submissions will be accepted in the following categories

English:

  • Analysis
  • Argument
  • Narrative
  • Profile
  • Research
  • Open

Prizes

Prizes will be offered for each category in each discipline -- that's more than twenty chances to win! First-place winners will receive a $50.00 Xavier bookstore gift card. Second-place winners will receive a $25.00 gift card. All submissions will be considered for inclusion in an EReserves anthology. The password for the EReserves page is writing. The E-Reserves link goes to last year's essay collection.

To enter the Contest

  • Please send your submission materials to writingcenter@xavier.edu.
    All entries with their accompanying submission form (available from your professor, the portal, or the Writing Center) must be submitted electronically. We will begin accepting submissions from Fall semester students beginning December 4th.
  • If your essay is selected, you will need to obtain a confirmation from your professor that your essay was submitted for the course.
