Saturday, June 6 - Shabbat in Tel Aviv

Morning

  • Breakfast
  • Guest speaker: Israel Update
  • Overview of current events in Israel
  • Walking tour of the ancient seaport of Jaffa (Joppa)
  • The entrance to the house of Simon the Tanner where Peter stayed (Tabitha, Acts 9:36-43)
  • Rocks of Andromeda (Greek mythology)
  • Hear the story of Jonah and the whale (Jonah 1)

Afternoon

  • Lunch in Jaffa
  • Tour of the artists' quarter

Evening

  • Dinner at guest house
  • Cultural event

Sunday to Thursday, June 7-11 - Conducted in Tel Aviv

  • MGMT 300 “Management Behavior: Doing Business in Israel” (3 Credit Hours)
  • HRES 325 “International Human Resource: Focus on Israel” (3 Credit Hours)

Additional Sites and Activities May Be Included

  • Visit Israel Stock Exchange
  • Visit Google Israel
  • Meet with Baruch Lipner, executive director of Tmura, the Israeli Public Service Venture Fund founded in 2002 to increase the involvement of the high-tech community in non-profit activity in Israel, with a focus on education and other youth initiatives
  • Visit Caesarea, (Acts: 10-25) the Roman capital city built in honor of Augustus Caesar by King Herod the Great. Visit the Roman theatre, Hippodrome, Crusader city, and remains of the former ancient majestic port. Caesarea serves as a back-drop for the Book of Acts; Cornelius, the first gentile convert; the home of Philip the Evangelist; the many visits by the Apostle Paul including his two-year imprisonment and his journey to Rome.
  • Visit the kibbutz industry and learn about economic and social changes in kibbutz society
  • View Mount Tabor, the place of the Transfiguration (Matthew 17: 1-9)
  • Overnight Nazareth area guest house

 

Friday, June 12

  • Visit New Generation Technology’s Incubator, the first incubator of its type to be owned by Jewish and Israeli Arab businessmen that supports and encourages entrepreneurial projects in the fields of technology and biotechnology

 

Saturday, June 13 - Nazareth (NOTE: this is subject to Shabbat)

Morning

  • Breakfast
  • Tour Nazareth and visit the place of the Annunciation,
  • (Luke 1: 26-38)

Afternoon

  • Lunch with peers
  • Continue to Cana, site of the first miracle (John 2: 1-1) and visit the Cana Wedding Church (John 2) where Jesus attended a wedding with his mother and disciples and turned water into wine.

Evening

  • Dinner at guest house

  • Nazareth area guest house

 

Sunday, June 14 - Golan Heights

Morning

  • Breakfast
  • Visit the Mount of Beatitudes (Sermon on the Mount,
  • (Matthew 5: 1-12), then to the place of the miracle of the bread and the fish at Tabgha (John 21:15-17), then to Mensa Christi (John 21: 5-17) and then reach Capernaum, where Jesus lived in the house of Simon Peter (Matthew 9: 1) and preached in the Synagogue.

Afternoon

  • Visit Caesarea Philippi (Banias) (Matthew 16: 13-23); go on short nature wal
  • Visit the Ben Tal overlook for a view into the Syrian city of Kuneitra, from a decommissioned army bunker
  • Visit Golan Heights Winery for tour, wine tasting and meeting with the marketing director
  • Meet with representative of Golan Economic Development Council
  • Drive to Kfar Haruv in the southern Golan Heights for panoramic view of entire area (time permitting)

Evening

  • Drive to Hamat Gader hot springs
  • Dinner and swim in hot springs

Overnight

  • Nazareth area guest house

 

Monday, June 15 - Nazareth to Jerusalem

Morning

  • Breakfast; check out
  • Visit Kinneret Cemetery – Learn about the early Zionist pioneers and their dreams; understand their harsh realities
  • Visit baptismal site on the banks of the Jordan River (Matthew 3: 1-12),
  • Givat Haviva seminar on Israeli and Arab coexistence and security fence

Afternoon

  • Lunch at Givat Haviva
  • Drive to Jerusalem
  • Enter Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives
  • Drive to hotel
  • Check in

Evening

  • Dinner at hotel
  • Ramparts walk - exciting walk on the Old City walls with its breathtaking views of the city

Tuesday June 16 - Friday June 19

  • Second Course "Theology" Monday - Thursday Conducted in Jerusalem
  • Meet with Israeli venture capitalist
  • Meet with Palestinian Leader on doing business in Israel and the Middle East in general
  • Meet with partners of G.ho.st (Global Hosted Operating System), a joint Israeli-Palestinian startup company
  • Visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s National Holocaust Memorial
  • Participate in a business ethics case study through the lens of Jewish, Christian, and Palestinian sources

 

Saturday June 20 - Judean Desert

Morning

  • Breakfast
  • Drive to Masada for tour of the mountain top fortress where the Jewish zealots made a final stand against the Roman legions

Afternoon

  • Lunch
  • Ahava Dead Sea Cosmetics visitor center; meet with marketing director
  • Float in the Dead Sea – the lowest point on Earth
  • Ein Gedi (Time permitting) for a short hike to a desert oasis (Samuel 1: 23-29)
  • Tour Kumaran, where the Essenes wrote the Dead Sea scrolls

Evening

  • Dinner at hotel

Overnight

  • Jerusalem hotel

 

Sunday, June 21 - Jerusalem

Morning

  • Breakfast
  • Walk in the footsteps of Jesus, down the Mount of Olives.
  • Visit the Pater Noster church, where Jesus taught his disciples the Lord’s Prayer (Our Father),
  • Visit Dominus Flevit, where Jesus shed a tear (Luke 19: 41-44)
  • See Gethsemane, where Jesus was betrayed (Luke 22: 39-54)
  • Enter the Old City through the Lions Gate to the Pools of Bethesda where Jesus healed a crippled man (John 5: 2-10).

Afternoon

  • Lunch on own
  • Visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and other Christian holy sites
  • Visit the holiest site to the Jewish world, the Western Wall

Evening

  • Farewell dinner
  • Fly back to US
