Major
To major in international affairs, 18 semester hours of basic international relations courses are required. These courses include International Organizations, U.S. Foreign Policy, International Relations, American Government, Revolution and Change, and International Law. An additional 18 hours must also be completed in a field of concentration, chosen from Business, Modern Europe or Third World, which allows students to specialize in a particular geographic location or area of international affairs. Proficiency in a modern language is also required.

To strengthen and broaden the background of all Xavier students, a liberal arts core curriculum consisting of courses in history, literature, mathematics, modern language, philosophy, science, economics and theology is a part of the program.

Xavier's international affairs majors, upon graduation, are equipped with a sound foundation in the field of international relations. They will be familiar with the basic methods of approach to the study and will be able to make intelligent observations regarding international affairs.

Upon successful completion of the undergraduate program, students receive a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in international affairs. Depending upon the concentration chosen, students are prepared to enter either business, law school, or the foreign service, or attend graduate school in international business, international law, or international relations.

Minor
To minor in international affairs, 18 hours of political science courses are required, including POLI 140, 277, 374, 376, 378 and 379. A 2.0 cumulative average must be attained in the political science courses.
