The University celebrates Sustainability Day on Tuesday, Oct. 27, so it seems appropriate to look at the green aspects of the new James E. Hoff, S.J., Academic Quad. While the educational aspects of the Quad's two new academic buildings have rightly drawn most of the attention, a new video points out that these buildings, and the new central utility plant that will power them reflect careful attention to responsible stewardship for the environment. September's Xavier Faces are John Heim, S.J., director for the Music Series, and Richard Polt, professor and chair for the Department of Philosophy. And of course, we have our regular features as well. We invite you to send us your thoughts or suggestions.
Inside Xavier is pleased to spotlight the University's monthly Employee Recognition Program, which publicly recognizes individuals who consistently reflect our Jesuit mission in terms of being men and women for others, consistently go the extra mile in their efforts and consistently put Xavier's interests ahead of their own. This honor is part of a larger initiative of the President's Administrative Council to better inform, connect and recognize faculty, staff and administrators throughout the institution. Honorees are selected by the President's Cabinet. If you would like to nominate someone for employee recognition, fill out our nomination form.
Aaron Meis, Dean of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Admission
Aaron Meis is a great example of how to live the Jesuit mission in the workplace. He consistently goes out of his way to show appreciation for the efforts of the admission staff and consistently takes on responsibilities he could easily delegate. Always smiling, he exudes the feeling that “we’re all in this together.”
Daewoo Park, Chair, Management and Entrepreneurship and Professor of Management, Sedler Family Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Daewoo Park brings great synergies to a very diverse department. A tireless worker who is always available to help out the department of the college, he is a great mentor of junior faculty and goes out of his way to support and collaborate with them. Further, as an instructor, he is one of the first to volunteer if a crisis arises or a class needs to be covered.
If you know a fellow employee who goes above and beyond
to make Xavier a better place for all,
be sure to nominate him or her.
