The division of information
resources provides leadership to enable the University to
progress
in the use of technology
and information resources to enhance the teaching and learning
environment, support scholarly activity, and improve service
and productivity.
Information resources include the following
areas:
Xavier University
Library supports
classroom instruction and the scholarly activity of
students and the faculty
by acquiring, organizing and providing access to a broad
range of materials and information resources. The library
offers services and instruction to facilitate the effective
use of these learning materials.
Instructional
technology services (ITS) manage Xavier's
computer labs, oversee the University's interactive
computing
and multimedia presentation facilities, and provide
a wide variety of mobile computing and media equipment
to the campus. ITS designs and delivers in-service training
programs for faculty and staff development, and provides
training services for students in support of instructional
programs. ITS also assists faculty in planning, designing,
implementing and evaluating instructional technology
tools and strategies.
Information
systems and services (ISS) supply computing
hardware and software support and maintenance to the
campus community. ISS is responsible for the ongoing
maintenance and development of the University's administrative
systems, as well as for the campus network and telecommunications
services.
Web development provides leadership in planning and
implementing strategies and practices to enhance the
University's web presence and expand services offered
on the web.
Strategic
information resources collaborate with staff
throughout the University to assemble, analyze and report
information concerning the University's performance to
inform ongoing assessment and planning initiatives.
