What is Canvas?
Canvas is a cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS) that has consistently been rated highly for its student-centered model and the overall student experience and is recognized by faculty for its ease of use and its high-quality mobile user interface. Canvas was selected to replace Blackboard as Xavier's LMS.
Canvas will allow us to implement Xavier’s strategy for anytime, anywhere, any-platform, and any-device learning. This move will significantly enhance our capability to deliver high quality online, flipped, and hybrid courses, as well as enrich our resources to support our more traditional face-to-face courses. We believe that the switch to Canvas will support Xavier’s student learning experience at the level of excellence that we demand today and, as importantly, that it will provide what we will need for tomorrow.
