Xavier University TRiO, Student Support Services
Xavier University is seeking applications for Secretary III in its TRiO, Student Support Services (SSS) program, funded through the US Department of Education. The TRiO, Student Support Services Program seeks to assist low-income, first generation students, and students with disabilities on Xavier’s campus through outreach, programming, and academic assistance.
The position is full-time and reports to the Director of the TRiO, SSS Program. The duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following: managing the office on a day to day basis; supervising student employees; overseeing data inputs; and meeting the needs of the staff and students.
Specific duties include: secretarial support to the TRiO, SSS Program. Responsibilities include: greeting the public; answering the phone; typing correspondence; taking messages; making appointments; maintaining participants’ files; assisting with the production of the monthly TRiO, SSS newsletter; processing accounting requisitions; assisting with input and maintenance of confidential program database; maintaining office supply inventory; making travel arrangements for staff; maintaining calendar of program events; taking minutes in meetings; and assisting with the production of the program presentations. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications include: High school diploma or equivalent; 2-3 years secretarial experience; excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, desktop publishing, and other databases. Applicants should possess excellent communication skills, ability to handle confidential information, and be student-centered and multi-task oriented.
