- If we are bringing salaries “in line,” will some people receive pay cuts?
There will be no pay cuts as a result of implementing the new classification/compensation structure for staff positions. There will be adherence to the new guidelines on not providing base pay increases to those above the maximum.
- If it is determined an individual is overpaid, how will that be addressed?
An over the maximum policy has been established for employees whose salaries are over the maximum of their classification grade salary range and includes how an employee would be compensated for performance. This policy can be found in the XU Pay Guidelines located on the classification/compensation website.
- Will folks over max have base salaries reduced?
No compensation will be reduced from base salaries of employees whose salaries are over the maximum of their classification grade salary range.
- What does “overpaid” or “over-the-max” mean? What constitutes that?
‘Over the maximum’ is the correct term to use in this specific situation. This occurs if an employee’s salary is above the maximum of his/her classification grade salary range.
