ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS

Xavier University, an AACSB accredited Jesuit university in the Catholic tradition, invites applications for two tenure track positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank in the Department of Economics beginning in the fall 2010. We welcome applicants with specializations in applied microeconomics, with a preference for those with fields in industrial organization, law and economics, health, urban and regional economics, and international economics. Salary will be competitive, and rank will be commensurate with qualifications. Faculty members normally teach nine credit hours per semester. They are expected to be excellent teachers, innovative in their approach to teaching in the undergraduate and MBA programs, and active scholars engaging in research activity leading to publication in quality outlets. Candidates who apply for appointment at the Associate Professor level should provide evidence of teaching excellence and a record of continuous and current scholarship. Xavier University has a strong commitment to diversity and, building upon recent success, seeks a broad spectrum of candidates including women and minorities. Applicants are expected to have completed their PhD by August, 2010.

Xavier will be conducting preliminary interviews at the AEA meetings in Atlanta. To ensure consideration, candidates should submit a curriculum vita, evidence of outstanding teaching, a sample of written research, and three letters of recommendation to Dr. Carol Rankin, Co-chair, Department of Economics, Xavier University, 3800 Victory Parkway, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45207-3212. Application materials may be submitted electronically to wcbapplicants@xavier.edu by Monday, November 23, 2009.
