Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education, Tenure-track
Starting Date: Fall 2013
Duties: Coordinate the music education curriculum and teach undergraduate courses related to K-12 teacher preparation. Primary responsibilities include teaching methods courses, supervising student teaching, and conducting a vocal ensemble. Additional duties will depend on the candidate’s interests and expertise. Qualifications: Doctorate in Music Education by Fall 2013. Seeking a dynamic teacher, scholar, and musician to provide leadership in music education and music education outreach, someone who can bring imagination and creativity to the continued development of a very successful program. A minimum of 3 years of exemplary K-12 music teaching experience is expected and excellence in teaching at the college level is desired. Candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of current methodology and research in music education and possess the ability to produce scholarly writing. We seek candidates with the commitment and demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with both internal and outside partners, including public schools and professional music organizations, and with the demonstrated potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
