Food Waste Composting
Xavier Dining began composting in December 2011. The Hoff Dining Commons composts over 2,000 pounds of every week from both post and pre-consumer food waste. The food waste is collected in 64-gallon bins and stored in a compost cooler until they are picked up by Future Organics and brought to Marvin’s Organic Gardens in Lebanon, Ohio for composting.
Marvin’s Organic Gardens is more than a garden center, offering landscaping and construction services as well as hosting events such as thinkGREEN, which connects local residents with green vendors.
