SGA Platform

The 2012 Student Government Association Executives have made sustainability an integral part of their platform. Their goals include implementing motion sensor lighting, transportation alternatives, and a push to go paperless. The push to go paperless will prompt departments to make waivers and other forms available online through OrgSync rather than wasting hundreds or even thousands of sheets of paper. Professors will also be encouraged to utilize online submission websites like BlackBoard and TurnItIn rather than requiring physical documents, and students will be asked to print less often and waste less paper.

Their transportation objectives are to make the shuttle more reliable, promote the Bike XU program that began last year, provide two rentable WeCars, and explore travel opportunities with Metro buses. These options would decrease the need for students to own cars on campus, reducing gas usage, parking problems, and unnecessary driving.
