Meet the Advocates (2012-2013)
Jenny Braun is a second year Mental Health Counseling Graduate student from Maineville, Ohio. At her undergraduate alma mater, Hanover College, she fell in love with everything psychology or brain related. Jenny is an advocate because she has an understanding of how important it is to have support after sexual assault or domestic violence and Jenny wants to be that initial support for survivors and help them through their process of empowerment. Jenny is a classically trained singer and can be seen driving around Cincinnati "performing" in her car.
My name is Nikki Winchester. This is my second year on the advocate team. I am a third year doctoral student in clinical psychology with my masters in clinical psychology. When I'm not doing advocate work you can find me studying or in class, doing therapy, teaching, or cuddling with my dogs. I enjoy what I do as an advocate and am looking forward to the winter semester!
Katrina Lenz is a second year graduate student in the PsyD program at Xavier. She is interested in working with young adults in the future, and is currently a therapist at Xavier's Psychological Services Center. Katrina is from Northern Kentucky and graduated from Thomas More College where she majored in psychology and minored in history and art history. She is looking forward to serving as an advocate for the 2012-2013 academic year to promote awareness of sexual assault and dating violence on Xavier's campus, and to offer support for survivors of sexual assault and dating violence.
Hi, my name is Matt and I'm the only male Advocate. I'm a graduate student at Xavier with my Master's in Clinical Psychology and am currently working on my Doctorate. I also an avid fan of everything Cincinnati, (Reds, Bengals, Skyline, etc.) and am a big movie buff. I decided to become an Advocate because I knew it was an important cause with people that need as much support, guidance and help as possible. I also know men are underrepresented in this area and I wanted to do all that I could to help those affected by sexual violence and have the greatest impact for people who deserve to be helped and stood up for.
Katie Tolle is a 2nd year doctoral student in clinical psychology and also a therapist-in-training at Xavier’s Psychological Services Center. She is a graduate of Miami University with a degree in Zoology. She formerly worked as a research scientist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital before switching careers to do what she truly loves. When she’s not studying or working, you can find her running, snuggling with her cats, or watching Seinfeld reruns. She is proud to be an Advocate and to support survivors of sexual assault or harassment, intimate partner violence, or stalking. Survivors deserve someone to listen to them, support them, and stand up for them.
Megan Bachman is a Mental Health Counseling graduate student currently completing her counselor trainee internship experience. She is a graduate of Miami University with a degree in Marketing, with minors in Spanish and MIS. She formerly worked as an account manager at a local corporation before pursuing a career in mental health counseling. Aside from working and completing her internship experience, she finds peace practicing Yoga and laughing with family and friends. She is honored to serve as a member of the Advocate team to provide education about prevention at Xavier University, and to support survivors of sexual assault or harassment, intimate partner violence, or stalking.
