The Multicultural, Gender, & Women's Center is excited to have you participate in the 2013 Smooth Transitions Program scheduled for Monday, August 19 ? Friday, August 21, 2013. We will have programs and events scheduled until Manresa begins.
You will move into your room for the academic year on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 7:30am ? 11am ONLY. Your schedule for Move-In is as follows, regardless of your residence hall.
Last names beginning with A-G will arrive between 7am and 8am
Last names beginning with H-S will arrive between 8am and 9am
Last names beginning with T-Z will arrive between 9am and 10am
Because you will be moving into your assigned room for the academic year, here are a few things to consider:
Label all belongings with your name, residence hall and room number.
Pack all boxes securely and wrap breakable items. Please avoid over-packing boxes. This reduces the chance of injury for the Move Crew. Xavier University is not responsible for lost or broken items.
If you are driving with multiple vehicles, please stay together. Students should be in the first vehicle.
A driver needs to stay with the vehicle at all times. If possible, students should not be driving.
Be sure to have a full tank of gas before arriving. Anticipate some delays and consider bringing a snack or bottled water.
Directly following move-in, students and families need to be at the Cintas Center for the Community Luncheon by 11:15am. Because we have a full schedule, please plan to finish unpacking no later than 10:00 am, regardless of your scheduled move-in time. Dress for the orientation program is casual, with business casual dress required for dinner on Monday, August 19. Additionally, if you take medicine or need assistance traveling around campus, please explain how we can assist you by emailing us at email@example.com, or as your need arises.
If you are not moving onto campus, then you should arrive on campus at the Gallagher Student Center, Room 280, at 11am on Monday, August 19, 2013. A mentor will meet you and walk with you over to the Cintas Center for the Community Luncheon.
For each morning of the program, you will need to meet in the same location, GSC 280, no later than 8:30am. If you?d like to join the entire group on campus for breakfast, feel free to come at 7:45am. Once you are on campus, you are expected to stay with the Smooth Transitions group for all activities. While our official schedule will end by 9pm each evening, you are welcome to stay for Late Night Activities.
All participants must attend all Smooth Transitions workshops/activities and stay with the group during on or off campus events, unless otherwise specified. There is lots to learn, do and explore, so get ready for your transition to college life!
