If your SAR indicates your FAFSA application has been selected for review in a process called verification, you must submit tax documents to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
Students must submit a completed verification worksheet as well as:
- transfer tax information online using the IRS Data Retrieval Process (watch video below); if tax figures are transferred successfully then tax return transcripts are not required.
- submit a copy of their and their parents' (for dependent students) federal tax return transcript(s)
The Department of Education encourages students and parents to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) to import data from their tax return. It is the fastest, easiest, and most secure method of meeting the verification requirements.
