Technology
Enhanced Classrooms
In
an effort to facilitate the use of instructional media
resources by faculty and students, a number of Xavier
classrooms have been technologically enhanced. These
classrooms can be divided into two general categories, Presentation
and Interactive.
Presentation
Classrooms
Each
presentation classroom has a ceiling mounted data/video
projector, an instructor’s podium containing a computer
(with a zip drive), a wireless mouse, an input jack for a
laptop computer, a VHS VCR, and the appropriate remote
controls.
Operating
instructions are located on the Windows desktop as PDF
files, and on paper within the podium, covering:

Interactive
Classrooms
Each
interactive classroom has a ceiling mounted data/video
projector, an instructor’s podium containing a computer
(with a zip drive), a wireless mouse, an input jack for a
laptop computer, a VHS VCR, and the appropriate remote
controls.
In
addition, there are student computer workstations in each
room. Interactivity between the instructor’s podium and
the students’ workstations is achieved via a video
switching system, called the Tech Commander. With
this system the instructor can distribute his/her computer
image to all the student stations (or a subset), pull a
particular student’s monitor display to the instructor’s
podium, or distribute it around the room. All student
monitor displays can be sent to the projector. The control
panel for the Tech Commander is located on the
instructor’s podium.
Operating
instructions are located on the Windows desktop as PDF
files, and on paper within the podium, covering:
