At Xavier, we’re a different kind of family. We take time to get to know you, so that we can understand the hopes and dreams that make you unique. All of our faculty and staff have this in mind, but for Adrian Schiess, the director of Student Academic Support Services, it’s his job.
Think of Adrian as your personal fixer. Together with his staff, he guides you past any obstacles you encounter during your college experience. He interprets academic requirements, helps you change your major and finds the financial aid to help you get through a tight spot. He tells students he’ll put an arm around their shoulder or give them a kick in the pants, whichever they need more. It’s his business to help students succeed, and apparently he’s pretty good at it. Xavier’s freshmen retention rate is 88 percent and its graduation rate is almost 80 percent, both well above the national average.
So while you’re busy going to college, you can rest at ease knowing that Adrian’s running your interference, tackling pesky problems so you can stay focused on what matters most—your celebratory dance in the end zone.
