Criteria and Application Process
For several years, the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, Inc. has awarded Xavier a grant that enables the entrepreneurship program to fund one $18,000 scholarship for a senior majoring in entrepreneurial studies. When the University receives this funding, the scholarship application process is typically announced early in the spring semester. Note: Please check this page before applying for updated deadline dates and requirements.

Potential Scholarship Amount: $18,000

The committee will then recommend a scholarship recipient to the dean of the Williams College of Business. The dean will make the final decision on which applicant will become the William G. McGowan Scholar.

The McGowan Scholarship will be coordinated with any other funding the recipient is receiving from federal, state or institutional sources so that tuition-restricted assistance does not exceed the cost of tuition.  Applicants who have specific questions about how the McGowan Scholarship will affect their financial aid package should contact the financial aid office at 745-3142.

Monitoring of the Scholarship
The William G. McGowan Scholars Award Committee comprised of the Williams College of Business Dean, Executive Committee, and Entrepreneurship faculty (see names below) will oversee the administration of the award. The chairperson of the entrepreneurship center will chair this committee and be responsible for payment of the award and for overseeing the student’s working 10 hours per week for the entrepreneurship program.  The committee will ensure that the scholarship recipient maintains the eligibility criteria for the award, including that the student remains as a full-time student in the Williams College of Business.
