Entrepreneurial Business Simulation

This is a fun and fast-paced way to put your entrepreneurial management skills to the test in a simulated environment. Choose from several industries, select a location, order inventory, hire employees and get down to business. The computer will keep track of your profitability, customer satisfaction and other measures of success. Cash prizes will be awarded to the team with the highest score. Check back for prize details.

Contest Rules

  • Teams of two to three students may participate
  • All team members must be enrolled students. Undergrad and graduate students welcome.
  • Each college or university may enter as many teams as they like.
  • Teams with members from different schools are also welcome.
  • Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first-served basis.
  • There is no fee to enter.
  • The contest director will select a duration time between 90-120 minutes and announce the duration at the start of the competition. The team in the lead when time expires will be the winner.
  • In the event of a tie, tiebreaker criteria will be used. This criteria will be announced prior to the start of the competition.
  • No previous sim experience required. There will be an overview of program features prior to the start of the competition.

Student Business Expo

If you are a student who already has a business, or you have a great business idea, show it off to the people who have money, advise and influence. Our jury of business experts and investors will dispense suggestions, potential referrals and contacts, as well as prizes. Don't miss this opportunity to get valuable feedback and enhance your resume. Prizes will be awarded for innovation, creativity and marketability. Prize details will be available in the future.

Rules, Regulations, Logistics

  • Students may compete as individuals or in teams.
  • All team members must be enrolled students. Undergraduate and graduate students welcome.
  • Each display must be sized to fit on a six-foot table.
  • Be creative in displaying your brand and the capabilities of your business. Props, prototypes, posters and signage are welcome.
  • A full business plan document is helpful, but not required.
  • No formal presentation is required, but be prepared to sell your concept to our jury as they visit your table and ask questions.
  • Laptop slide shows are welcome, but should not be the entire basis of the display.
  • There is no fee to display, but there may be a charge if you require electric power or Internet access. Fees should not exceed $20 per service.
  • The exhibit area will be available for set up one hour prior to the opening of the expo.
  • Contestants must display Thursday evening for judges only and then again Friday morning 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. for all conference attendees and guests.
