Xavier Prepares for Avian Flu

Office of Emergency Management is Developing a Plan to Address a Potential Pandemic Event

The Office of Emergency Management and Business Continuity is working with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to prepare Xavier for a potential pandemic flu event. While there is currently no or limited human-to-human transmission of the H5N1 virus, the ERT regularily monitors the situation through the World Health Organization (WHO) and federal, state and local health departments.

Although it is impossible to predict if or when a pandemic flu event will occur, individuals and families are encouraged to prepare for a pandemic just as they would for any other emergency or disaster. For more information regarding the Avian Flu go to www.pandemicflu.gov
