Advising

To ensure proper student support for the rigorous education programs, undergraduate candidates in the secondary/pre K-12 teacher education program work jointly with two advisors: a faculty member in the student's major field of study and a faculty or staff member of the department of education. The class schedule must be signed by both advisors at the time of registration each semester. Graduate candidates work with an advisor in the department of education. A record file is established by the director of secondary education to accumulate the on-going grades, field experiences and other material which provides information pertaining to the growth and development of the candidate. This file remains active until the candidate completes the licensure program or withdraws from the teaching licensure program.

Each student in the secondary/K-12 program is required to meet with the department of education advisor at least once each semester during the pre-registration period. Adherence to the requirements and standards for teacher licensure outlined is ultimately the responsibility of the student.
