A new password policy for users of Xavier’s email, portal, network and Banner systems is now in effect. Xavier employees are required to structure their passwords in a specific way and change their passwords every 90 days.
- Every password must be at least eight (8) characters long.
- Passwords must contain at least one of each of the following:
- 1 uppercase letter
- 1 lowercase letter
- 1 number
- Special characters, such as punctuation marks, symbols (e.g. “&”) cannot be used in your password.
- Passwords must be changed every 90 days.
Xavier employees will be notified daily for the five (5) days preceding a password expiration date. If the password is not changed by day 90, the password will expire.
To provide everyone with a method to personally change and manage their passwords, a new web-based tool, the Xavier Password Manager (XPM) has been created at https://password.xavier.edu. The XPM may be accessed from any computer with internet access, either on or off campus.
