How to connect to
Xavier's Wireless Network:

Instructions walking you through the connection process are available on the MyXu Portal (in both the 'Student Services' and 'Connection Center' tabs).

  • Personal wireless routers (and wireless printers that broadcast their own interfering networks) are prohibited at Xavier.

Both types of devices broadcast their own wireless networks, hindering your computer's ability to communicate with Xavier's wireless access points.  The interference from these devices is the most common source of intermittent and unreliable wireless connections in the dorms.
  • Xavier requires the use of Cisco Clean Access on all PCs (Macs do not share the same restrictions) that connect to the Xavier network. There are times when the Clean Access Agent has difficulty executing on a machine. If you are unable to complete the Clean Access login procedure, you will have limited network access.

Clean Access requires that PC users have:

    • Microsoft Security Essentials (free)
As a stand-alone or in addition to whatever anti-virus software you might have.

    • Windows operating system updates / security updates installed

    • Up-to-date anti-virus definitions

Clean Access will provide you with instructions and assistance to update your machine to meet standards.

Having connection issues?

  • Your network driver my be out-of-date
The most common cause of issues is an outdated network adapter driver on your computer.

  • Poor signal quality
Resulting in intermittant connection to the network
