TOP circulation QUESTIONS

  • Where can I check out a laptop?
    Laptops can be checked out at the IRC desk.  You may check a laptop out for 3 hours. 

  • Can I renew my books?
    Books can be renewed by bringing your All Card to the IRC desk, calling Circulation 745-3881 or renewing online through the Discovery Services webpage link to My Library Record https://xplore.xu.edu/patroninfo~S0/. Xavier books can be renewed by students 4 times and faculty/staff 2 times as long as no one else has requested them. OhioLINK books can be renewed 4 times by students and faculty/staff as long as no one else has requested them. Xavier videos, DVDs and audiovisuals cannot be renewed by students, but can be renewed by faculty/staff for one week if no one else has requested them. OhioLINK videos, DVDs and audiovisuals cannot be renewed.

  • I ordered an OhioLink book, where can I pick it up?
    OhioLink books can be picked up and checked out at the IRC desk.  You will receive an email to your Xavier email address when the book arrives.

  • My professor said he put a book and video on Reserve, where do I find these items?
    Reserve items are kept behind the IRC desk.  Ask at Circulation for the item.  Staff will find the call number in the Xplore library catalog and check the book or video out to you.

  • Can I pay a fine for my overdue books?
    Fines can be paid at Circulation at the IRC desk. 

  • I’ve been billed for a book that I returned, how can I have this bill removed from my Bursar account?
    First you should call Circulation 745-3881 or come to Circulation at the IRC.  You will need to have a supervisor remove the charge from your account.  If the book is owned by Xavier, you will receive a credit for $85.00 to your Bursar account.  You will still owe a $6 overdue fee.  If the book is owned by OhioLink, you will receive a $75 credit; you will still owe a $50 overdue and processing fee.

  • What hours is the library open? When is the IRC desk staffed?
    Circulation is open all hours that the library is open:

    Fall and Spring Semesters:
    Monday – Thursday 7:30a-1a
    Friday 7:30a-7p
    Saturday 10a-6p
    Sunday 10a-1a

  • Can I check out a video camera?
    Cameras may be checked out from Circulation.  Cameras are due back by closing the day AFTER you check the camera out.  You will need to supply a mini-DV cassette to use in the camera.  If you need help transferring your video or formatting, you may call Tina Meagher 745-3682 to arrange for help.  Tripods are also available for checkout.  You may sign up for the camera in advance.

  • Is there a copier in the library?
    Copiers are located on the first and second floors of the library.  You may pay with cash or coin, All Card, or Administrative copy card.  Copies are $0.10 per page.  Please ask for assistance at the IRC desk.

  • My library record isn’t working, how can this be fixed?
    If your library record isn’t working please call Circulation 745-3881 or come to Circulation at the IRC.
