Greetings from

Rho Xi Chapter!

The place: Howard University
The date: Monday, January 13, 1913

What happened?
Delta Sigma Theta was born to 22 African American female undergraduates; each distinguished, sophisticated, and tantalizing. They each possessed their own unique inner and outer strengths, sharing similar values and concerns with a vision of an organization that went beyond self-fulfillment.

Delta Sigma Theta was created to de-emphasize the social aspect of sorority life and expand new horizons, societal welfare, cultural diversity, and scholastic excellence. From the strength of its sisterhood, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has become the largest organization founded and directed by African-American women with membership exceeding 200,000 members and 900 chapters. The founders of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. sparked a flame and lit a torch that will burn forever.
