In an interesting discussion available here, one Ohio State Senator, Jon Husted is asking that very question. In the application for additional federal funds available through the "Race to the Top" program Ohio is asking for the following as quoted in the article:

Husted, a candidate for secretary of state, questioned several items included in Ohio's application, including: $600,000 for two cultural anthropologists to deliver Race to the Top stories; $400,000 for a video compilation for Race to the Top; $320,000 to create a Race to the Top communications plan; and $320,000 to produce and distribute Race to the Top stories in print and online. The spending would be spread over four years.

What do you think? Should addition money for "schools" be spent outside of schools?  With so many districts cutting programs that directly impact children, would this money be better spent elsewhere?

What do you think?
