As I have been talking about for a while now, there are changes coming to the Nations schools in the form of a modification of the No Child Left Behind Act. As you can see here, the proposal calls for tightening up of the requirements of the act, having the focus shift to looking at student progress and not at aggregate student data and the like. A big shift is the call for high schools to focus on preparing each child to enter the workforce or higher education by the time of graduation. While most of us thought that was always the goal, it was not always the case. You can also see in the proposal that a lot of money will be spent on the worst performing schools while those schools performing well would gain more autonomy.

What do you think?

Some initial reactions are coming in and as you can imagine, the run all over the place. As you can see here, many people are impressed with the ideas, but are looking for the concrete details that they reserve the right to disagree with. It is amazing to me how partisan this can and will become. Does it automatically make it a bad idea if someone from the other political party proposes it?

Do you think we will ever have a governmental structure that will allow both parties to work together for the common good?
