Street View of Hughes High SchoolCBI lead community engagement processes in several neighborhoods in an effort to help build stronger ties between Cincinnati Public Schools, residents and community stakeholders. The strategy is to create Community Learning Centers in each school to serve as a focal point for community life.

The concept has been championed by CPS along with KnowledgeWorks, the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and the Procter & Gamble Fund as part of the district’s master plan to reconstruct or renovate every one of its school facilities. CBI is concluding work in 10 schools and their neighborhoods, with prospects for working with others in the future.

A team of CBI consultants has worked to bring together school staff, parents, community leaders, neighborhood businesses and other partners around the establishment of a set of activities that support community vitality while strengthening the educational experience for children in the school.
