Clubs and Organizations
The Xavier University Advertising Club is an authorized college chapter of the American Advertising Federation and is associated with the Cincinnati Ad Club. The club participates in the AAF's National Student Advertising Competition in developing a campaign for a national company.
All advertising majors are eligible for membership.
Public Relations Student Society of America
Students majoring in communication arts are encouraged to become active in campus clubs and organizations. The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is a national, student-managed organization offering a campus program of speakers, skill-building activities and social events. Closely associated with the Cincinnati professional chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the student organization helps members develop strong communication skills.
The Television Center is both a teaching facility and a professional video production center, enabling students to learn in a working studio while gaining professional experience. The equipment used by students applies the same logic and is similar to technologies used in the television and video production industries. Students have complete access to the studio, field equipment and editing systems by virtue of being registered in one of the many television courses offered each semester. Specific training is provided in studio directing and in the use of an on-line integrated editing system, a computerized electronic paint system used for creating and manipulating graphics and a non-linear, Avid composer editing system.
