Guidelines for Requesting New Materials | Library Liaison Program | Material Selection Databases | New Book & Audiovisual Request Form | Acquisitions Home
There are a number of resources available to aid in the book selection process. The library has provided a list of material selection databases for your convenience (see right menu). In addition, the library has a subscription to Choice book review cards, a service that focuses on books for academic libraries. These cards are forwarded to the appropriate departments each month for review by the faculty. Choice cards may be submitted without request forms if they are initialed by the requester and faculty liaison.
The deadline for submitting faculty orders is late February. This is to allow ample time to receive and pay for the materials before the end of the fiscal year. After the deadline is past, the remaining departmental funds revert to the general library fund and are spent on materials selected by the librarians.
Requests for new books and audiovisual materials should be submitted on a materials request form and include brochures or any additional ordering information. New book/audiovisual request forms are available online as a interactive PDF file.
These forms must be filled out and then submitted according to the following directions. All requests must be approved by the faculty liaison or department chair. Electronic forms should be filled out and then printed so that a departmental approval signature can be added to the form. Send completed purchase request forms to:

Order forms and Choice cards are returned to the requester after orders have been placed. It takes an average of 2-3 months from the time an order is received until the material is cataloged and ready for use. It is important to allow sufficient lead time so that materials are on the shelves and ready for student use in time for library-related assignments. Questions about the status of an order should be directed to Patty Greco, Acquisitions Librarian, McDonald Building, Suite 203, 513 745-2998, greco@xavier.edu
