HISTORY FOR XURFC

The 2016-17 season was by far the most successful year for the club. The team achieved an undefeated fall, capped with a Midwest NSCRO championship and a #1 ranking heading into the spring season. After a historic fundraising effort by the players, parents and Old Boys, the team packed their bags for snowy Colorado. With many supporters in the stands, the team left Colorado with their heads high and a 3rd place finish.
We would like to thank all of our donors and supporters that helped us reach our fundraising goal of $40,000!
The team is making its final summer preparations for their 2017 fall campaign where another trip to the National Championships is on the line. Be sure to check back soon for our schedule and results!

2016-17 Xavier University Organization of the Year

USA Rugby All American Honorable Mention - Daniel Gresser '17

Xavier Men's Rugby continues to celebrate and promote rich tradition, history, and team unity since 1974. The team is excited to represent a club that has had such a successful 43 years on Xavier's campus.

The Xavier Men's Rugby Football Club is a second year member of the National Small College Rugby Organization. During their first year as a member of the NSCRO, the Musketeers were ranked as high as #1 in the nation and finished the year 3rd in the nation! For 2017-18 the Muskies will be joining the Midwest Rugby Conference, a hybrid DII-NSCRO league with teams from Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio. The team is excited to see what a team of capable returners and promising youngsters can bring, come join something special!

Running touch under the lights of the soccer field, slashing through defenders and freezing rain, attending Pre-Season Camp, one cannot help but feel the excitement building in this club. As this ecstatic energy grows within our group, at this moment before we plunge into great new challenges, it seems appropriate to pause and acknowledge where we have been and affirm where we are headed. .

  • We are faster, having started conditioning and practicing before any other team
  • We are stronger, having worked with Xavier Athletics' strength coach, and
  • We are better, all around as we do not work as 15 individuals, but rather as one complete team.

XUFC would like to thank all of its sponsors: FDLIC, Bahl and Gaynor Investment Counsel, Republic Services, and, as always, the continued support of the Old Boys and XURFC parents for making our club a continued success.

Coach’s Highlights from the previous game:
"We've been working very hard every week since our fitness and skills camp in mid-August. Even though the competition gets tougher and tougher, This is one of the best teams we've had during my time as coach. We’ve never been to a final four in all the years I’ve been coaching at Xavier. All the hard work has paid off.”- Coach Gaffney
