What's a High Point Rider?

The shows XUET competes in usually run two days. Each day, a rider earns points based on how well they do. A first place is worth seven points, a second place is worth five, a third place is worth four, and so on. These are tracked for each individual rider. Riders who compete in fence classes (jumping), compete twice in one day. Each day a special award goes to the High Point Rider, the one who has the most points out of all the riders who competed in the show. This usually necessitates a rider winning first place in both their fence and flat class, and sometimes there is a tie between two or three riders who have done well in both their classes- in this case, there is a "ride-off" for the title. Being the High Point Rider is a huge accomplishment for any rider, and a great honor to XUET to have riders who are able to secure this title!
