If you are reading this, then chances are your child is rowing for Xavier! It is truly a great and unique experience, and what sport is more collegiate than rowing? Well, nothing really since it was the first organized intercollegiate sport in the United States, but anyway, we are extremely happy that your child has decided to join the team.
Xavier Crew provides a way for your child to meet new people, travel across the country, and stay in great shape. Rowers are among some of the most committed and hardest working students in the University. Working together as a team and managing time efficiently are musts, and all of these are qualities that employers and graduate admission officers are looking for in an individual.
One of the first things that you probably want to do is to stay connected. The website here provides schedules and monthly updates about the team, and for more current information, be sure to check out our social media pages. Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to see cool pictures and read about the medal stand before you even receive a phone call! And if you are planning to attend Parent’s Weekend, Xavier Crew puts together a fun afternoon to meet the coaches, other parents, and to see the crew firsthand!
Lastly, Xavier Crew does run on a limited budget, and money not allocated by the University has to be raised through donations and fundraisers. Events such as Rent-A-Rower and Row for Community are held each year, but if you wish to make a donation, please do so! All contributions (no matter how small or large) make a huge difference. Your donation will go towards the overall operating budget of the crew (things like coaches' pay, regatta fees, upkeep of equipment, travel costs).
Thanks for taking your time to read this, and we are certainly looking forward to your child rowing with Xavier! (If you have any worries, check this article out. It’s a great one!)
