Xavier Interfaith Club

Interfaith Immersion Trips

About once a month club members visit places of worship around the Cincinnati area, including churches, synagogues, temples, gurdwaras, mosques, and other sites. Oftentimes we meet with a religious leader at the location, and if possible visit during a time of congregational worship. The following is a list of some of the faith communities in the Cincinnati area with which the Interfaith Club has been or expected to be in contact.

Vineyard Central Church, St. Elizabeth Arts Foundation, & Sustainable Faith Center

Vineyard Central is a community of house churches strongly rooted in the Norwood Community. Among their numerous connections, they directly support the St. Elizabeth Arts Foundation as well as the Sustainable Faith Center.

The structure of St. Elizabeth Church was built in 1903 as a Catholic Church, but was sold in 1995 after parish consolidation the year before. It was at this time that the Vineyard Central community took ownership of the structure. While Vineyard Central is composed of house churches, they use St. Elizabeth for weddings and funerals, art camps and films, concerts and parties, and housing neighbors in need, all of these they consider as various types of worship. They find the building to be a place of joy and comfort, and a place of peace and prayer.

Hinduism

Hindu Temple of Greater Cincinnati
The Hindu Temple on Klatte Road, located on the edge of Hamilton County, is a splendid facility which opened in May of 2007 to serve the nearly 2,000 Hindu families living in greater Cincinnati. The temple grounds are notable for a healthy, green location, where proximity to the city (via I-275) along with closeness to nature's abundant beauty blend to set the stage for an attractive place of worship. The plain yet solid white architecture lacks the particular trills and ornamental nuances of traditional Indian Hindu temple construction, but it the worship within where the importance lies.
